Happy National Hug Your Cat Day!

Before you attempt to hug your cat today, please remember:

Results may vary.

Some cats will happily accept your affection.
Some will tolerate it.
Some will immediately question every life choice you've ever made.

And a few may choose violence. 😹

Whether your cat is a cuddle bug or a tiny furry dictator, every cat deserves a safe, healthy life.

That's why Animal Aid Alliance of NC supports spay/neuter programs, rescue organizations, and community initiatives across North Carolina that help reduce pet overpopulation and prevent homelessness before it starts.

Give your cat a hug today...
..if they'll allow it. πŸ’™

🐱 June is National Adopt a Cat Month! 🐱

Meet Betsy and Beverlyβ€”a beautiful bonded pair searching for their forever home together. πŸ’™ These sweet girls are available for adoption through

Their bond is something special. They have comfort, companionship, and love in each other, and they're hoping to find a family that will welcome them both.

Every year during kitten season, shelters and rescue organizations across North Carolina become overwhelmed with cats and kittens in need of loving families. Choosing adoption not only changes the life of the cat you bring homeβ€”it also creates space and resources to help another animal in need.

At Animal Aid Alliance of NC, we're proud to support rescue organizations that work tirelessly to save lives and help animals find loving homes.

✨ Could Betsy and Beverly be the perfect addition to your family?

Please share this post to help them find the loving homes they deserve.

🐾 Grant Impact in Action 🐾

At Animal Aid Alliance of NC, we believe prevention saves lives.

Thanks to our partnership with US Dog Coalition & Rescue, 11 dogs received critical veterinary care through their community outreach program, including:

🐾 11 Dogs Helped
βœ‚οΈ 7 Spay/Neuter Surgeries
🏑 Countless Futures Changed

Behind every number is a story.

πŸ’› Banjo, a 123-pound dog living in a crate far too small for his size, was brought to safety and received the care he desperately needed.

πŸ’› Aloka arrived from a hoarding situation and gave birth to three puppies just days after entering rescue. Today, her puppies have found loving homes, and Aloka is on her way to a brighter future.

πŸ’› Coco's owner was facing overwhelming hardship while caring for five children alone. Through the Duncan's Legacy Program, Coco received a spay procedure that prevented an unplanned litter and helped ease an already difficult situation.

This is why Animal Aid Alliance of NC funds spay/neuter programs and supports rescue partners across our state. Every surgery, every vaccine, and every act of compassion helps reduce pet overpopulation and keeps more animals from entering overcrowded shelters.

Together, we're not just rescuing animalsβ€”we're preventing future suffering.

Thank you, US Dog Coalition & Rescue, for the incredible work you do every day. πŸ’™πŸΎ

β˜€οΈ June is National Pet Preparedness Month β€” and with hurricane season beginning in North Carolina, now is the perfect time to make sure your pets are ready for an emergency.

A few simple steps can make a big difference:

We prepare for our families. Our pets are family too. πŸ’™

At Animal Aid Alliance of NC, we talk about numbers a lot.

Dogs and cats spayed and neutered.
Grant requests funded.
Animals helped.

But behind every number is a story.

A family able to keep their pet.
A rescue given the resources to say "yes."
A litter prevented before it entered an overcrowded shelter.
A dog or cat given the chance to live a healthier life.

As we close out another month, we're grateful for every supporter, volunteer, rescue partner, and donor who makes this work possible.

Together, we're creating lasting change for animals across North Carolina. πŸ’™πŸΎ

🐾 "How Many Pets Have You Rescued?"

Every rescue pet has a story. Today we'd love to hear yours.

How many rescue dogs, cats, or other animals have been part of your family over the years?

Drop your number in the comments and share a photo of your current rescue companion. πŸ’™

At Animal Aid Alliance of NC, we're proud to support the rescues, shelters, and spay/neuter programs that help make those happy endings possible.

🐾 Found Kittens? Here's What To Do First. 🐱

Kitten season is in full swing across North Carolina, and many well-meaning animal lovers find themselves asking the same question:

"I found kittens... should I rescue them?"

The answer might surprise you.

❀️ In many cases, the best thing you can do is wait and watch. Mother cats often leave their kittens temporarily while searching for food and will return when they feel it's safe.

Before moving kittens:

βœ… Check if they appear sick, injured, or in immediate danger.

βœ… If they appear healthy, monitor from a safe distance for 10–12 hours.

βœ… If mom returns, leave the family together.

βœ… If mom does not return or the kittens need help, contact a local rescue organization or veterinarian for guidance.

Taking healthy newborn kittens to a shelter should be a last resort. Keeping kittens with their mother whenever possible gives them the best chance to thrive. πŸ’™

Help us spread awareness this kitten season by sharing this post. Every informed decision can save lives.

πŸΎβ˜€οΈ The 7-Second Rule Could Save Your Dog's Paws β˜€οΈπŸΎ

Before heading out for a walk, place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds.

If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog's paws.

On sunny days, asphalt and concrete can become much hotter than the air temperature and can cause painful burns in just minutes.

🐢 Ways to protect your pup:
βœ” Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
βœ” Stick to grass or shaded paths when possible
βœ” Bring water for both you and your dog
βœ” Watch for signs of discomfort like limping or lifting paws

A quick 7-second check can help keep your best friend safe all summer long. πŸ’™

Grant Impact Update: All Good Dogs Rescue 🐾

We’re excited to share an update from All Good Dogs Rescue β€” the funding provided by Animal Aid Alliance of NC helped cover 7 spay/neuter surgeries for dogs entering their rescue program.

That means:
🐾 7 dogs received essential veterinary care
🐾 7 fewer animals contributing to overpopulation
🐾 7 more dogs getting the healthy start they deserve before finding loving homes

All Good Dogs Rescue is dedicated to saving dogs from neglect, abuse, and homelessness across North Carolina while providing medical care, love, and support until each dog finds the right forever family.

The dogs featured in these photos are just a few of the lives their rescue continues to impact every day β€” each one deserving of safety, care, and a loving home.

This is what grant impact looks like.
