N.C. Attorney General Jeff Jackson thanked all of us who work to protect and conserve our wild lands and animals at the N.C. Wildlife Federation's conservation awards banquet on Saturday, May 2. "The reason they're [future generations] going to be able to enjoy these natural resources is because of you, and your work. Because you saved it for them. If you hadn't, it wouldn't be there, because of the pressure that always exists to take more and more, and to treat these finite resources as if they are fully expendable. The protection and the care, the strategy and the thoughtfulness, all of it is combined to give to the next generation -- to give to my kids - exactly what we all had. I'm so grateful for that - grateful for you. And you have a partner at N.C.D.O.J."

Good story by WFDD-Public Radio in Winston-Salem about why there's so much invasive, destructive bamboo in High Point. In Durham, also, we need a major effort to get rid of our rampantly spreading bamboo. If you're interested in a program or talk about this, email us at [email protected]. https://www.wunc.org/2025-11-17/carolina-curious-why-is-there-so-much-bamboo-in-high-point?fbclid=IwY2xjawRA94FleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETF3R2tsWmVueE5UdFE3ZHVac3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHrciSPQWprMm4qpn-OZnOwhjs9f4rxwWUyax2ZjxGsu9Wxh1cgya_fWLhqAL_aem_qG7DI975Jt27A-19xs2vKw

High Point resident Ahmed Salim noticed an oddly large amount of bamboo in his neighborhood. WFDD's Amy Diaz spoke with a local expert on invasive plants to find out why there's so much of it in the area.

We celebrate the fact that a judge invalidated the arguments underpinning the plan to massively increase logging in the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests, without protecting the federally protected bats there. https://defenders.org/newsroom/federal-court-rules-forest-service-unlawfully-relied-flawed-analysis-create-nantahala?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=organicsocial&utm_campaign=wildlife-news&utm_term=forestplan&supporter.appealCode=3WDW2600ZEXX1&en_og_source=FY26_Social_News&fbclid=IwY2xjawQ9gUhleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETE3UFdCR0ZLQjNNWFZuNWlzc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHlxc80jL3FLjNqoyMDRQRV_YoOp-Q4NSxhe4yHYzan_joNDzs56UfBLGg1Ko_aem_dMRMUeRy8gVpolEqC6MjJA

In a major victory for the communities and wildlife that depend on North Carolina’s Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina ruled that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Forest Service violated the Endangered Species Act by rely...
