🖤❤️💛💚 Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring strength of the Black community.
Juneteenth marks the day when enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It is a time to reflect on our nation's history, celebrate Black culture and achievements, and recognize the ongoing journey toward equity and justice.
At NAMI Durham, we acknowledge the importance of creating spaces where every individual feels seen, supported, and empowered. Mental health advocacy includes recognizing the unique experiences, challenges, and strengths within our diverse communities.
Today, we celebrate freedom, honor resilience, and reaffirm our commitment to mental wellness for all.
