UPDATE: THE INFO SESSION HAS BEEN MOVED TO THURSDAY 1/13 AT 8PM ET

Duke Impact Investing Group is now accepting applications for Analyst positions for Spring 2022!

DIIG is a student-led organization that serves as an outlet for Duke undergraduates to engage in the field of impact investing. DIIG manages a $100,000 fund dedicated to investing in socially impactful startups worldwide, provides consulting for regional and national social enterprises, incorporates machine learning and big data to build algorithms and models for clients, and leads impact investing education programs (notably through a 0.5-credit Duke House Course).

Joining DIIG is a great way to gain hands-on experience across business and social sectors regardless of your major or intended career after graduation. Our members come from backgrounds ranging from Environmental Policy to Computer Science and enter fields across the public and private sector.

We will be hosting a virtual info session on Thursday, January 13th, at 8pm ET. You can log on using the link below.

This past March we had our 3rd annual DIIG x BOW x DCC Impact Case Competition. This year’s case asked the 25 teams to prepare a strategy for Hometeam Ventures, a venture capital firm that drives innovation in the construction sector to end global homelessness. We had 5 teams make it to the finalist round, making a case for a company that Hometeam should invest in, conducting a double bottom line analysis, and presenting their strategy to an elite judging panel.

Watch this short clip of the final round participants presenting to the judges, showcasing the amazing work they did!

DIIG is proud to be organizing our annual Impact Investing Case Competition in partnership with BOW and DCC on Mar 27! This year, we are excited to have sponsors including the Federal Reserve, EY-Parthenon, Accenture, and Gartner. Apart from Duke students, we are also inviting the nation’s top 25 schools to participate in this annual competition. Competing teams will be tasked with providing financial and consulting analysis for Hometeam Ventures, a Y-Combinator backed startup and one of DIIG’s clients. Hometeam Ventures is a venture capital that invests in startups that improve the construction life cycle with a goal of providing more adequate housing globally.

“We ourselves, I think, built unsustainable companies by maximizing profit.” - Jeff Ubben T’83

Duke Impact Investing Group (DIIG) is incredibly excited to host an Exclusive Live Event with Duke Trustee Jeff Ubben (T’83), in a fireside Q&A conversation with Duke Student Government President Tommy Hessel (T’21). After founding a $16 billion hedge fund, Mr. Ubben left his prestigious position at Value Act Capital to pursue high-impact social and environmental investing. He has served on the Board of Directors of over 15 public companies, including Twenty-First Century Fox, AES Corporation, and Gartner Group, is a contributing member of the World Economic Forum, and now leads the Duke’s Climate Change and Sustainability Task Force.

He will join us on Tuesday, February 23rd from 5-6PM ET. Spots are filling up quickly -- register to reserve yours at bit.ly/JeffUbben. This conversation will not be recorded.

In this chat, Jeff will talk about whether there is a tradeoff between a successful career and impact as well as the reason he left the prestigious hedge fund he started.
