Mothers for Awareness and Prevention of Drug Abuse

Mothers for Awareness and Prevention of Drug Abuse In memory of Ryan and Chris, and the countless others who we are losing everyday.

Summer brings more freedom, new experiences, and opportunities for growth but it also brings new challenges for young people.

As parents and caregivers, we can help keep teens safe by staying connected, having honest conversations about substance abuse and peer pressure, and creating a home where they feel comfortable turning to us when they need support.

Prevention doesn't happen in a single conversation. It happens through trust, communication, and showing up consistently.

This summer, let's work together to help young people make healthy choices and build brighter futures.

More than 80,000 Americans lost their lives to a drug overdose last year.

Behind every statistic is a son, daughter, parent, sibling, friend, and a family forever changed.

The opioid and fentanyl crisis continues to impact communities across the country, reminding us why prevention, awareness, and community action matter. By having conversations, staying informed, and supporting prevention efforts, we can help protect lives and strengthen our communities.

Together, we can help prevent future tragedies.

MAPDA supports Colorado Initiative 85 and California SB 1071 because we believe families deserve both accountability and truth.

While the two measures take different approaches, both recognize the devastating impact fentanyl continues to have on families and communities.

Colorado Initiative 85 seeks to strengthen accountability for those involved in the manufacturing, trafficking, and distribution of fentanyl.

California SB 1071 seeks to ensure that when a fentanyl poisoning death is legally determined to be a homicide, official records accurately reflect that determination. At its core, the bill is about transparency and ensuring families receive records that align with legal findings.

MAPDA believes prevention, accountability, and accurate reporting all play an important role in addressing the fentanyl crisis and preventing future loss of life.

Looks real. Isn't safe.

Counterfeit pills are putting lives at risk in communities across the country. Many are made to look like legitimate prescription medications but may contain fentanyl or other dangerous substances without a person's knowledge.

Prevention starts with awareness. One conversation could save a life.

06/04/2026

Moms don't just worry. Moms show up.

They ask questions.
They start conversations.
They stay involved.
They pay attention.

They educate themselves, advocate for change, protect their families, and strengthen their communities.

Prevention starts long before a crisis. It starts with informed, engaged parents who are willing to show up, speak up, and take action.

At MAPDA, we believe awareness, prevention, and advocacy can make a lasting difference in the lives of youth, families, and communities.

Join the movement.

A recent federal drug bust in Los Angeles' MacArthur Park uncovered large quantities of illegal drugs, highlighting the ongoing threat illicit substances pose to communities across the country.

Behind every seizure are real families, real lives, and real consequences. These incidents reinforce the importance of prevention, awareness, and education before substance use begins.

She keeps showing up.

A mother asking questions.
A mother staying involved.
A mother starting the conversation.
A mother refusing to stay silent.

Prevention doesn't begin with a program. It begins with a conversation, a relationship, and a parent who chooses to stay engaged.

At MAPDA, we believe one conversation can change a choice, one choice can change a life, and one life can impact an entire community.

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, caregiver, educator, or mentor, your presence matters. Your voice matters. The questions you ask matter.

Keep showing up. Keep listening. Keep talking.
