The nonprofit Durango Adult Education Center promotes education that strengthens literacy skills and encourages personal development.

Durango Education Center has served the community surrounding Durango for 30 years with high quality educational services. We provide diverse programming to meet the needs of the community. Our current programs include GED preparation, basic education, English as a Second Language,computer and job skills training and enrichment courses. We are proud of our students, the dedication of our staff and the generous support of our community.

The mission of the Durango Adult Education Center is to fill educational gaps by equipping adults, children and families with the skills and knowledge necessary for 21st century careers, post-secondary education, and social and economic mobility.

General information

An educated populace is extremely critical to Durango's economic and social well being because low educational levels affect people's health, level of civic engagement, willingness and ability to help one's children become literate and well educated, and the ability to be self-sufficient. On a simple human level, gaining more education affects one's happiness and satisfaction in life.

Products

We provide educational services for children, families and adults. Our programs for adults include Adult Basic Education, GED preparation and testing, English for speakers of other languages, computer training and enrichment courses. Limited childcare is available for students, please call for availability.
