From the Presidents Desk:

As we head into fall, there is still plenty happening at the Dunwoody Homeowners Association!

We have two of our favorite community traditions ahead of us. Trunk or Treat returns to Brook Run Park on October 29, with food, music and plenty of Halloween fun for kids of all ages. Then, on November 15, Light Up Dunwoody returns to the Donaldson-Bannister Farm, bringing our community together for music, performances, Santa, food, and the lighting of the tree and menorah as we kick off the holiday season in Dunwoody.

These events are a great reminder of what makes DHA special: bringing neighbors together and creating opportunities to connect with the community we all call home.

Over the past two years, we’ve brought new energy and ideas to DHA while continuing the traditions that have made this organization part of Dunwoody for decades. I’m incredibly grateful to our board, volunteers, members and community partners who continue to give their time and support to make it all possible.

There is still much to look forward to this year, and we hope you’ll join us along the way.

See you around Dunwoody!

From the President’s Desk:

Summer may be winding down and our kids are back in school, but there is still plenty happening in Dunwoody as we head toward fall!

I remember when Labor Day weekend marked the unofficial end of summer because school didn’t start until afterward. Times certainly change—but thankfully, there are still plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy our community.

🍴 Dine Around Dunwoody – August 20

Join us this Thursday, August 20, at High Street for our next Dine Around Dunwoody! We’re excited to bring the event to High Street, with several of its restaurants participating, along with a DJ and plenty of fun throughout the evening.

And looking a little further ahead, mark your calendars for Trunk or Treat on October 29 at Brook Run Park. More details will be coming soon!

✨ Light Up Dunwoody – November 15

One of our favorite traditions returns on Sunday, November 15, at Donaldson-Bannister Farm. DHA is once again partnering with the Dunwoody Preservation Trust for Light Up Dunwoody.

Last year, thousands of neighbors joined us for visits with Santa, food and drinks, performances, and, of course, the lighting of the tree and menorah. We’re looking forward to another special evening this year, so stay tuned for more information.

📅 Next DHA Meeting – September 27

Our next monthly DHA meeting will be held on September 27 at the North Shallowford Annex. We’ll share more information about the agenda as we get closer.

It has already been a terrific year for the DHA. We celebrated one of our largest Fourth of July Parades ever, introduced a new take on our community dining events with Dine Around Dunwoody, and continue to welcome more than 40 vendors each Saturday at the DHA Farmers Market at Brook Run Park.

None of it happens without the volunteers who give their time and the members who support our organization. Thank you for continuing to show up for the DHA and for our community.

There’s still plenty ahead—let’s finish 2026 strong!

The Dunwoody Homeowners Association was saddened to learn of the passing of former DHA President Louise McCahan.

Louise served as DHA President in 1989 and was one of many dedicated volunteers who helped shape our organization and our community. Her commitment to Dunwoody and her willingness to serve left a lasting impact that continues to be felt today.

Many of us also remember Louise for her warmth, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor. One of my favorite memories is seeing her greeting friends—and even dancing the Macarena—at the Lemonade Days entrance. It was a perfect reflection of the joy she brought to those around her.

On behalf of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the McCahan family and to all who knew and loved Louise.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Kingswood Methodist Church on Saturday, July 18, at 2:00 PM.

Please join us in remembering Louise and the many contributions she made to the Dunwoody community.

From the desk of the President:

One week later, we’re still smiling.

As we reflect on this year’s Dunwoody Fourth of July Parade, I simply want to say thank you.

This year’s celebration was especially meaningful as we marked the 50th Dunwoody Fourth of July Parade and the 250th anniversary of the United States. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, it was a celebration to remember.

A few highlights:

🇺🇸 More than 100 parade entries participated, representing community organizations, local businesses, schools, elected officials, performers, sponsors, and neighbors from across Dunwoody.

🎉 By our parade team’s estimates, more than 1,000 people took part in the parade itself, making this one of the largest celebrations in our history.

🤝 We are especially grateful to our sponsors, whose support helps make this event possible. A special thank you to IHG Hotels & Resorts, our first-ever Platinum Sponsor, and to Leah Economos, whose leadership helped make this our most successful year yet for community sponsorships.

Events like the Fourth of July Parade don’t happen on their own. They are made possible by an incredible team of volunteers who dedicate countless hours planning, organizing, and serving our community throughout the year.

They are also made possible by our DHA members. As a member-supported organization, your annual membership allows us to continue traditions like the parade while supporting community events and advocacy throughout the year. Thank you for believing in the work we do.

Finally, thank you to everyone who lined the parade route with family, friends, lawn chairs, and plenty of patriotic spirit. Seeing our community come together is what makes this event so special year after year.

Here’s to another wonderful parade—and to making even more memories together next year!

Note from the President:

As we head into one of the busiest and most exciting times of the year for the DHA, I wanted to share a few updates.

🇺🇸 The Dunwoody Fourth of July Parade

The countdown is on for the largest Fourth of July Parade in Georgia! This year’s parade will be especially memorable as we celebrate both the 50th anniversary of the Dunwoody Fourth of July Parade and the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Our parade team has been hard at work preparing what promises to be the biggest parade in our history, and we hope to see the streets filled with families, friends, and neighbors ready to celebrate together.

As a special tribute to America’s 250th birthday, the DHA will be distributing flags before the parade. We hope you’ll wave them proudly as we honor our nation’s history and celebrate this milestone year.

📅 June DHA Meeting – June 28

Our next DHA meeting will be held on June 28 at the North Shallowford Annex.

This will be the final opportunity to receive updates from our parade chairs and planning team before the Fourth of July festivities begin.

In addition, representatives from Lennar will present plans for the former LifeSouth property and provide an update on the proposed development. This presentation will be an important opportunity for residents to learn more about the project and ask questions.

🤝 Thank You to Our Members and Volunteers

The DHA is powered entirely by volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to strengthening our community. From organizing events and advocating on local issues to supporting programs like the Farmers Market and Fourth of July Parade, everything we do is made possible by people who care deeply about Dunwoody.

We are equally grateful to our members whose support allows us to continue serving the community year after year. Your involvement makes these events, programs, and initiatives possible.

We hope you’ll join us at the parade and Family Festival as we celebrate this historic Fourth of July together.

Thank you for your continued support of the DHA.
