This weekend our Webelos Den had an amazing TWO night campout! Even though the weather turned cool overnight, everyone stayed nice and toasty thanks to our Cubmaster, Andrew Welter, and his family’s incredible new wall tent complete with a wood-burning stove that kept us warm all night long.

The scouts had a fantastic time exploring the park, hiking the trails, playing kickball, and of course roasting marshmallows around the fire.

Here’s to many more campouts in Casa De Welter! 🏕️🔥🍫

Today's the day! We'll start picking up donations around Epworth, Farley, and Peosta at 10am. Please set your donations out for our Scouts to pick up.

Scouts will soon be out in your neighborhood helping fight hunger right here at home!
✨ Scouting for Food is our council‑wide service project where local Scouts collect non‑perishable food donations to support families in need.
Fill a bag if you can, and set it back out on collection day. Together, we can make a big impact!

🇺🇸 Bear Den Adventure – Paws for Action! 🐻

Today our Bear Scouts completed their “Paws for Action” adventure! The scouts spent time learning about the American flag, how to properly care for it, and other important patriotic symbols. We also had a great discussion about what a nonprofit organization is and how groups like Scouting serve our communities.

wWe had an awesome field trip to 1-800-TShirts.com in Dubuque, where each scout got to create their own custom t-shirt featuring the American flag and the Scout Oath. It was a huge hit with the kids and a great hands-on way to celebrate what we learned today.

A special thank you to Tom Rauen and the team at 1-800-TShirts.com for hosting us and helping the scouts make their shirts. We truly appreciate the support of local businesses that invest in our youth!

⚡️Bear Den – Baloo the Builder! 🛠️

Today our Bears got hands-on with real electrical work thanks to Richard from RBE Electric. He showed the scouts how to safely wire an outlet and a light switch—and they even powered up a light! 💡

Who knows… we may have a few future electricians in the den! Big thanks to Richard for sharing his time, expertise, and helping make Scouting hands-on and fun.

🎄🚂 Last Pack Meeting of 2025 – Movie Night Fun! 🍕

Last Sunday, our pack wrapped up our final meeting of 2025 with a fun and festive night at Castle Theater in Manchester. Scouts proudly received their awards, then enjoyed pizza and a private showing of The Polar Express.

It was a great way to close out the year — full of laughter, celebration, and holiday spirit with our scouts and families. Thank you to everyone who helped make 2025 such a great year for our pack!

Good morning/evening Pack 5!

My name is William Essman and I want to thank all of you very much for the care package that you guys put together and sent to me halfway around the world! The letters, treats, cards, candy, presents, and everything in the package are very much appreciated! There are so many goodies, that I am going to share with my junior enlisted soldiers. Even though I am gone for the holidays, you all made this Christmas and New Year one to remember! So thank you again. Many years ago I was a cub scout sitting where you are today (A different pack though). I learned many things to help me in life and I still use that knowledge here today like tying knots! Cubmaster Then sent me some pictures of you all out doing adventures like hiking and looking at airplanes. It all looks very fun and I hope you all enjoyed it! I remember when we would go camping and spelunking back when I was in Cub Scouts!! In one picture I saw you guys in a building with fish on the walls in the background. That reminded me of one thing that I can't wait to do when I return home, and that's Go FISHING! Once again, thank you all very much for the package and your support. It means alot to me and my guys. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope your love for the outdoors continues to grow!

Pack 5 went on our annual Christmas caroling adventure today! 🎄🎶

We bundled up, boarded the bus, braved the cold, and spent the afternoon spreading holiday cheer across the community. The scouts sang their hearts out, laughed a ton, and made a lot of people smile. ❤️

Always one of our favorite traditions of the year!

Pack 5 and the community camp together this holiday season to send 10 care packages to deployed soldiers from Iowa, weighing in at a total of 121lbs!
We received donations from families of the Pack, private donations and business donations from Delaney’s Auto, McDermott oil, Freddie’s Popcorn, Fareway in Peosta, Verena Coffee!
We live in a great community ❤️

Tonight, our Bears earned their ‘Bear Strong’ advancement by learning all about the food groups and even got to make their own healthy trail mix! The scouts had fun discovering that junk food is NOT a food group!

Afterwards, everyone burned off some energy with a few lively games of kickball and dodgeball. Pretty sure the adults had just as much fun as the Scouts tonight!

We’re a few weeks behind on posting this one, but our October Pack Meeting at Camp Burton was too good not to share!

The Scouts had an absolute blast — hiking the trails, playing games, exploring the grounds, and cooking their own dinners over the campfire. Of course, no Scout night is complete without roasting marshmallows, telling stories, and performing a few hilarious skits under the stars. 🌲🔥

A huge thanks to our Assistant Cubmaster, Andrew, for handling much of the planning and preparation for this event — it wouldn’t have been such a success without you! 👏

And thanks as always to all our leaders and families!

Today our Lions had a fantastic meeting at the Swiss Valley Nature Preserve, where Naturalist Taylor taught the Scouts all about the different types of turtles in our area and why some animals make better pets than others. We even had a turtle race!

We also learned about the Six Essentials of Scouting — and each Scout got their very own whistle (you’re welcome, parents! 😉).

To wrap up the day, we hit the trail for a short hike and enjoyed the beautiful weather!
