Good Evening,
Normally, I do not respond to posts like this. However, I feel the need to speak up.
If you did not personally witness an incident, then you should be careful about assuming what actually happened.
While I did not witness what occurred inside the auditorium, I was a witness to what happened outside. When the board member in question was leaving, he could have simply continued driving and gone on his way. Instead, he stopped his vehicle and began yelling out of his car window. The situation then escalated as he attempted to get out of his vehicle.
I was one of the individuals attempting to restrain him and calm the situation. Thankfully, another board member pulled up behind him and asked him to get back into his vehicle. That intervention helped de-escalate the situation.
Because of that, although I have a great deal of respect for the writer of the article, I do not believe the article accurately depicts what actually occurred outside of the auditorium.
It also raises an important question: if there was surveillance footage from outside the auditorium, why was that footage not reviewed as part of this article? If the goal is to present the full story, then all available evidence should be consideredโnot just portions that support a particular narrative.
I also want to address the notion that people are attending board meetings simply to disrupt them. That claim is absolutely ridiculous. We should not create a narrative simply because there are individuals who disagree with certain decisions or viewpoints. Disagreement is not disruption. Community members have every right to ask questions, express concerns, and hold differing opinions.
Right is right, and wrong is wrong. The truth should matter regardless of who it benefits or challenges.
I cannot sit back and allow this manโs reputation to be damaged by an account that does not fully reflect what I personally witnessed. The community deserves the complete picture.
A man complained that he was "attacked" after the board's May 11 meeting, though his claim is disputed by school surveillance video, and the board member on the other end of the confrontation.
