Tuesday night we talked about "Navigating Big Emotions With Your Little One". One of the techniques we talked about is "I Notice, I Feel, I Can"

Step one- name what you notice in your body. For example you may say "I notice I'm breathing hard and my heart is beating fast."

Step two- name what emotion you are feeling. For example you may say "I feel nervous"

Step three- name what you can do about it. For example you may say "I can step outside and get some fresh air."

These prompts work great with little ones when they are first getting upset, however timing is everything. Try this when you first notice your child (or yourself) getting agitated or upset, not once emotions are already really high.
