As the school year winds down, we're thinking about one of the most important parts of any student's experience β feeling like they truly belong.
Not just showing up to school. But feeling seen. Feeling welcomed. Feeling like there are people in that building who are genuinely glad you're there.
For younger students, that might look like a friend who saves them a seat at lunch or a teacher who greets them by name every morning. For older students, it might be the group of people who just get them β or the adult at school who never stopped checking in.
And for the teachers and staff reading this β never underestimate the role you play in making a student feel like they belong. Sometimes you are the reason a student shows up.
At SSMV, building those connections is at the heart of everything our team does. Our Youth Case Managers work every day to make sure students across the Mohawk Valley have at least one trusted person in their corner β because belonging isn't a luxury. It's a necessity. π
To every student finishing out this school year β we hope you felt it. And if you didn't, we want you to know: you belong here. Always. π±
