Not to be dramatic but this might be the highlight of our week.

Our Chrysalis teams have been hard at work supporting the MacArthur Park community, and we’re grateful to hear that the impact is being noticed.

It’s that time of year!

This past Saturday, YPAC members and friends rolled up their sleeves to give Venice Beach some love. From removing graffiti and stickers to picking up litter and clearing weeds, every action helped make our community cleaner, greener, and more welcoming.

A new chapter starts with a step forward.

After more than three decades of incarceration, Michael returned home determined to build a new future. Through Chrysalis’ Ladder Up program, he gained work experience, strengthened his skills and moved closer to his employment goals.

Today, Michael is a Client Services Coordinator at Chrysalis, helping others navigate their own paths forward.

He rang the bell to celebrate his journey, a milestone that represents more than employment. It represents purpose, progress and the opportunity to give back.

Today, Hines employees joined us at our DTLA center to celebrate their annual Founder’s Day through service.

Together, Hines volunteers assembled 400 sack lunches and 400 hygiene kits, organized professional clothing donations, and helped with maintenance projects at our centers. Their time and care will directly support Chrysalis clients as they prepare for their next chapter in the workforce.

We’re grateful to the Hines team for spending their Founder’s Day with Chrysalis and showing how meaningful an investment of time can be in strengthening our community.

53 days until the 2026 Chrysalis Butterfly Ball!

This October, the cast of New Girl is coming together for a special reason. Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris, Hannah Simone and Damon Wayans Jr. will reunite to receive the inaugural Rising Phoenix Award, with a selection of cast members in attendance. Max Greenfield will also return as the evening’s host.

At the heart of New Girl was a simple idea: life’s biggest moments are made possible by the people who show up for us. Alongside business leaders like this year's Corporate Trailblazer honoree Jared Wolff, Chairman and CEO of Banc of California, our community is what can make us stronger. These beliefs are at the heart of Chrysalis.

Ruben kept looking for a way forward.

Despite having strong credentials and customer service experience, Ruben needed to find a way to stand out in a competitive job market.

Through Chrysalis, he found opportunities to build on his skills, gain new experience and explore a career in case management. After participating in Ladder Up, Chrysalis’ paid training and internship program, Ruben landed a case manager role where he now helps others navigate challenges he knows firsthand.

His story shows what can happen when someone has the opportunity to build on their experience, learn new skills and move toward meaningful work.

What's Inside Chrysalis: Little Tokyo BID Crew

Every day, our Works crew helps keep Little Tokyo clean, welcoming, and vibrant for everyone who lives, works, and visits the neighborhood.

In partnership with Little Tokyo BID, our team provides essential services including sidewalk and street cleaning, litter removal, graffiti abatement, pressure washing, and beautification efforts that help create a safe and inviting environment for local businesses, residents, and visitors.

Beyond maintaining the neighborhood, this partnership creates something even more meaningful. Through Chrysalis, individuals facing barriers to employment gain paid work experience, develop transferable job skills, and build a pathway toward long-term employment and economic stability.

A cleaner neighborhood. Stronger local businesses. More opportunities for Angelenos to rebuild their careers.

Supporting mental well-being is an important part of helping people achieve lasting stability.

Last week, Chrysalis hosted a Men's Mental Health Workshop, bringing clients together for a morning of conversation, encouragement, and practical resources. Participants heard from a licensed mental health therapist, who shared strategies for supporting mental wellness, and guest speaker Nesta, who shared his personal story and reminded attendees that seeking support is a sign of strength.

The event also offered complimentary haircuts, professional headshots, breakfast, and a chance to connect with others in a welcoming environment.

At Chrysalis, we know that building confidence and removing barriers extends beyond the job search. By supporting the whole person, we help individuals take meaningful steps toward employment and long-term self-sufficiency.
