The Downs Community Connection is encouraging residents and supporters to help build a lasting tribute to America’s veterans by purchasing an engraved memorial brick for the Downs Veterans Memorial Park.
The memorial brick campaign offers a meaningful way to honor those who have served our country while helping make the Veterans Memorial Park a reality. Bricks may be purchased in honor of any veteran—they do not have to be from Downs. Individuals who simply wish to show their appreciation for all veterans, as well as businesses and organizations, are also welcome to sponsor a brick.
Each engraved brick will become a permanent part of the memorial, creating a place where families and future generations can gather to remember and honor those who served.
Construction of the Downs Veterans Memorial Park continues to move forward thanks to the incredible support of the community, local businesses, fundraising efforts, and generous grant funding. Every memorial brick purchased not only honors the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans but also helps bring this meaningful community project one step closer to completion.
Whether you’re recognizing a family member, a friend, a hometown hero, or simply expressing your gratitude to all who have served, this is an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Inquiries may be emailed to [email protected] or pick up an order form at Miller Hardware or the State Bank of Downs. Be sure to submit your order by August 31 to be included in that phase of construction.
In July 2022, a group of citizens with a shared vision for the future of their small town of Downs, KS, came together to form what is known as Downs Community Connection (DCC).
