El Jardincito in Douglas, AZ has begun it's summer planting! We are excited to have planted squash, watermelon, melon, cucumbers, and turnips; hoping for a great summer season to provide the produce to the community at no cost. Amistades is fighting food insecurity while maintaining local, organic, cultural practices in our efforts.

El Jardincito en Douglas, AZ ha empezado su cultivo de verano! Estamos emocionados de haber plantado calabazas, sandia, melon, pepino, y nabos; esperamos tener una temporada de verano buena para proveer los productos a la comunidad sin costo alguno. Ricardo Jasso received an Honorary Degree Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Arizona. Ricardo is a visionary community leader, advocate, educator, mentor, and cultural scholar, whose career spans more than 50 years. His pioneering work in identifying and addressing the critical role of historical trauma and acculturative stress as primary barriers to the prosperity of Mexican Americans have improved health and social service approaches among providers throughout Arizona and around the nation. We have partnered together in Cochise County to offer "Around The Table," a cooking/nutrition class with trauma-informed material incorporated into them. The classes are offered every Friday until June 13 at the Amistades office in Douglas, AZ. Join us to spend some relaxing, meaningful time cooking and learning about nurturing our bodies and minds!
