Could a blood marker add context to MRI findings in MS? A study looked at neurofilament light (NfL), a marker of nerve-cell injury, in people with early MS starting interferon. Researchers found that baseline NfL was related to disease activity, but it did not independently predict long-term progression after MRI results and other factors were considered. NfL changes over time may offer additional clues. FDA UPDATE: Fenebrutinib filing accepted for relapsing and primary progressive MS 💊

The FDA has accepted Genentech's application, with priority review, for fenebrutinib, an investigational oral MS medicine. If approved, it would be the first BTK inhibitor for both relapsing MS and primary progressive MS. In Phase III trials, it reduced relapses by 51% and 58% compared with teriflunomide, and in the primary progressive trial it was the first investigational medicine in over a decade to slow disability progression. It is not yet approved, so talk with your neurologist about any treatment questions.
