**The Coach Show – Spotlight Segment: Coach Randy Schrader**
Alright, let’s take a minute to highlight one of the most respected names in Iowa high school football — Coach Randy Schrader.
Coach Schrader brings over three decades of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. Throughout his career, he’s made stops at programs like Clarinda, North Scott, Washington, and even coached at the college level with Rockford. Most recently, he stepped in as the interim head coach at ADM, continuing to lead and support one of Iowa’s strong programs.
Now here’s what really stands out — this is a guy who didn’t just coach teams… he built programs. At Washington High School, he helped lead teams to deep playoff runs, including a state runner-up finish. His ability to develop players, build culture, and create disciplined teams has made a lasting impact across the state.
His excellence hasn’t gone unnoticed either. Coach Schrader has been honored as the Ed Thomas Coach of the Year, as well as earning Coach of the Year honors in multiple regions, including the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference during his time in the college ranks. And to top it off, he’s been inducted into the Iowa Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame — a testament to the legacy he’s built.
But talk to people around Iowa football, and they’ll tell you — it’s not just about wins. It’s about how he leads. Coach Schrader is known as a motivator, a mentor, and a guy who knows how to get the best out of his players both on and off the field.
Even after stepping away from coaching for a short time, the game pulled him back — and that tells you everything you need to know about his passion for football and for developing young athletes.
