It’s taken us a day to truly grasp this heartbreaking loss. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a firefighter from the Morrill Fire Department following the tragic explosion that shook their community.

There are no words strong enough for moments like this. One family is facing the unimaginable, a department is grieving one of their own, and the fire service as a whole is hurting.

Behind every set of gear is a person who leaves home not knowing what the next call may bring, but still answers it without hesitation. That kind of courage and selflessness is something few can truly understand.

From all of us at the Dixmont Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, we are holding the Morrill community, the firefighter’s family, friends, and fellow first responders close in our thoughts and prayers.

Rest easy, brother. Your watch may be over, but your sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🖤🚒♥️

Today we’re thinking of firefighters across the country who show up no matter the time, weather, or situation.

Here in Dixmont, we see that same dedication in our own crew. It’s missed time with family, long nights, and always being ready when someone needs help.

It was an honor to welcome a visit to the Dixmont Fire Station today. Time spent with our firefighters is a powerful reminder of what true community service looks like.

We are incredibly grateful for the support that helped secure $2.3 million toward replacing our aging station, along with continued efforts to strengthen fire services across Maine.

Our first responders are always there when the community needs them. Support like this ensures we can continue to show up, protect, and serve Dixmont for years to come.

It’s official… the final piece of the puzzle for the new Dixmont fire station is in place. And no, this is NOT an April Fools joke.

On March 21st, the town voted and approved the final costs for the portion we are responsible for alongside the Susan Collins grant.

This project has been a true community effort from start to finish. We are incredibly grateful to our community, surrounding departments, and the many individuals who dedicated their time and energy to help make this happen.

A special thank you to the department members who showed up and represented at the town meeting while the Chief was away on a family vacation. Your commitment does not go unnoticed.

As we move forward, the next steps include working closely with an engineer to begin turning this plan into reality.

We are excited to share that the Town of Dixmont has been awarded a $2.3 million CDS grant toward a new fire station.

Thank you, Senator Collins, for investing in Dixmont’s future.
