The Antiquities Coalition page is a page for the information, discussion and activities related to the threat posed to ancient sites and artifacts from organized and systematic looting during times of conflict, political transition and war. The intent is to bring transparency to the looting activities, highlight cases worldwide, and explore potential solutions to the challenges faced by these coun

tries in crisis. The Antiquities Coalition began in 2011 and is led by the Capitol Archaeological Institute (CAI) at the George Washington University with its coalition partners including the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA), the National Geographic Society, the American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR) and others to support efforts by the Egyptian government to combat large scale looting. Art and Antiquities theft accounts for an astonishing $6 billion annually on the black market; third to drugs and guns. Please help stop the thieves stealing our mutual cultural heritage and protect heritage sites that are being damaged and local communities that would otherwise thrive from tourism from being robbed of that opportunity.
