We know many of you rely on free over-the-air television and radio for local updates, weather, emergency info, and public media.

As we continue work to get the power restored at the Baldy transmission site, we're sharing some important information with you from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

A smoke advisory is in effect for much of western and central Colorado, including Summit County, through Monday morning. Areas near and downwind of large fires in southwestern Colorado and southeastern Utah could have periods of moderate to heavy smoke.

If smoke is thick in your neighborhood, you may want to remain indoors, per the CDPHE. They recommend limiting outdoor activity and staying indoors when possible, especially for individuals with heart disease, respiratory illness, young children, and older adults.

Today is a pretty smoky one in Summit County. The dry spell, low humidity, and high winds will additionally contribute to Stage 2 fire restrictions going into effect at 12:01am Friday, June 26.

Per Summit County, here's what that means:
NO fires, bonfires, operating chainsaws, charcoal grills, chimenea portable outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, fireworks, shooting, sky lanterns, tiki torches, burning trash, welding, and torches.
The shooting range is CLOSED.

Prohibitions are also in place for private residences.

Happy Cinco de Mayo, Summit County!

❄️ We love a good spring snow around here, and we need every drop of precipitation. Some areas have already seen around 6 inches of snow, and this winter-spring storm is continuing to move through today.

Please plan ahead if you are headed out to celebrate.

⚠️ The National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 3:00pm Wednesday, with total snow accumulations of 6–18 inches possible. The heaviest snow is favored along and north of I-70.

Heavy snow may accumulate on trees and power lines, which could lead to broken branches, power outages, and difficult travel conditions. Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes may be especially impacted.

NWS Tip: Use extra caution if you need to travel, and keep emergency supplies in your vehicle, including a flashlight, food, and water.

Carrie joined the SPRTV Board because, "It’s incredibly rare and special to see people dedicate themselves so deeply to keeping an essential service going for years and years."

She also emphasizes something many people forget: you would be surprised how many households still rely on free, over-the-air radio and TV.
