Happy Cinco de Mayo, Summit County!

❄️ We love a good spring snow around here, and we need every drop of precipitation. Some areas have already seen around 6 inches of snow, and this winter-spring storm is continuing to move through today.

Please plan ahead if you are headed out to celebrate.

⚠️ The National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 3:00pm Wednesday, with total snow accumulations of 6–18 inches possible. The heaviest snow is favored along and north of I-70.

Heavy snow may accumulate on trees and power lines, which could lead to broken branches, power outages, and difficult travel conditions. Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes may be especially impacted.

NWS Tip: Use extra caution if you need to travel, and keep emergency supplies in your vehicle, including a flashlight, food, and water.

Women of SPRTV: Carrie Benefiel 🔦

New on the blog: Say hi to Carrie Benefiel, SPRTV Board Member, weekend morning DJ on Krystal 93, and marketing consultant.

Carrie joined the SPRTV Board because, "It’s incredibly rare and special to see people dedicate themselves so deeply to keeping an essential service going for years and years."

She also emphasizes something many people forget: you would be surprised how many households still rely on free, over-the-air radio and TV.

Okay, we'll admit it. Jurassic Park in Concert had us at hello.🦖

We are excited to share the National Repertory Orchestra summer lineup announcement and to cheer on another organization helping make Summit County summers so rich in arts and culture.

At SPRTV, community matters. So does access, connection, and celebrating the things that bring people together. This feels like all of the above. 😍🤩🥰

Say “hi” to Rachel Follender! 💛

We're celebrating the women who lift the signal.

Rachel is an SPRTV Board Member who brings thoughtful marketing and PR support, a deep love for Summit County, and a real appreciation for local connection and public media.

After more than a decade here, she still finds joy in snowy mornings, camp weekends, snowboarding, happy hours, and adventures with her Bernese mountain dog.

And yes, we think she is pretty good at climbing trees. 🌲😀

SPRTV is so grateful for Rachel and the care she brings to the organization.

This month, we are spotlighting women who lift the signal. 🔦

Meet Sue Greene, SPRTV Board President and one of the steady, behind-the-scenes leaders helping keep rebroadcast services strong across Summit County and beyond.

Sue has served on the SPRTV Board for 20+ years, and this is her second stint as Board President. Her SPRTV story goes back to the late 90s, when she decided to make Summit County home. She was teaching skiing at Keystone and looking for a meaningful way to plug into her new community. One board meeting later, the rest is history.

Sue shared what she loves most about her time with SPRTV: “Feeling integrated into the community in which I live and thrive.” 💛

Fun fact! Sue has traveled to 90+ countries and is captivated by the Polar Regions, especially the Arctic.

That curious, global perspective is part of what makes her such a thoughtful leader for SPRTV.

Earlier this evening over Silverthorne: moody skies and “is that rain?” vibes. 🌧️❄️

NWS Winter Weather Advisory for Summit County begins at 12:00 am and runs through Wednesday night, with 4–8 inches expected in the mountains (locally higher in spots).

We'll take the snow! But we won't be loving those road conditions. Be careful out there!
