Mental health support is a community responsibility.

We’re talking about the mental health crisis facing our children. But the reality is, our schools can’t do this alone—and neither can parents.

Our schools have hosted mental health resource events, brought in organizations and professionals, and provided opportunities for families to learn about the resources available within our community. Unfortunately, when those opportunities are offered, very few—or no—families show up.

As parents, we have a responsibility too.

We have to make the effort to attend these events, ask questions, learn what resources are available, and most importantly, make sure our children know where they can turn when they’re struggling.

Because when a crisis happens, that is not the time to start figuring out where to go for help.

We need to know beforehand. Our children need to know beforehand.

This isn't about pointing fingers at schools, parents, or any one person. It's about recognizing that change requires effort from all of us.

Schools have a responsibility to provide support and resources. Parents have a responsibility to be involved and utilize those resources. Our communities have a responsibility to come together and make sure families know they aren't alone.

We can't demand change from one side while neglecting our responsibility on the other.

If we're serious about protecting our children and preventing another tragedy, then we have to show up—literally and figuratively.

The resources are there. Let's make sure our families know how to use them before a crisis happens, not after it's too late. 💜🦋

Grief is like glitter. In the beginning, it’s everywhere.. on your hands, in your hair, scattered across every corner of your life. You try to clean it up, to restore some sense of order. And for a while, it seems like you’ve succeeded. But then, one day, you move a sofa or open a forgotten drawer, and there it is again. A tiny sparkle that catches the light and reminds you of what you lost.
It doesn’t go away completely. It settles, becomes quieter, less overwhelming. You learn to live with it, to carry it gently. And years later, when you find a bit of that glitter tucked behind a shelf, you might smile. Maybe even laugh. Because it reminds you of love, of connection, of someone who mattered deeply.
Eventually, something will catch your eye.. a photo, a favorite song, a familiar scent, and instead of pain, you’ll feel warmth. That’s the quiet truth about grief. It stays with you, but it changes. It becomes a part of your story, a soft echo of the love that never really left.

Okay, this truly has to stop.

You do not want to live with the weight of knowing that someone took their life because you couldn't be a decent human being to others.

It’s not worth it.

Children often don’t stop to think about the lifelong impact their words can have on someone else. They may see bullying as a joke, a way to fit in, or something that will simply blow over. But for the person on the receiving end, those words can become something they carry long after the moment has passed.

And bullying doesn’t start with our children.

Bullying is a learned behavior. Children watch the adults around them. They hear how we speak about others, see how we treat people, and learn what behavior is acceptable by watching what we model.

If we want our children to be kinder, more compassionate, and more accepting, we have to show them what that looks like.

Before you say something hurtful, before you send that message, before you post that comment, before you laugh at someone else's expense—stop and think.

You never know what someone is already carrying.

Be the reason someone feels seen, valued, and worthy—not the reason they question their worth.

Teach kindness. Model compassion. Stop bullying. Save lives.
