American Legion Honor Guards are suffering as fewer of our younger Veterans are joining and becoming active members.

If you are a Veteran and not a member of the American Legion, we ask that you consider joining.

The future of our Honor Guards, Color Guards, and other community programs are reliant upon new active members.

Fewer members. The same sacred mission.

Across the country, honor guards are shrinking in size, but their responsibility remains as important as ever. Operation Honor Guard helps support these dedicated volunteers as they provide final military honors for our nation’s veterans.

Help us strengthen honor guards across America.

A Quilts of Valor ceremony was held in May to honor more of our local veterans. The handmade quilts are thoughtfully made by volunteers of the Breezy Ridge Quilters branch of this national organization in an effort to “wrap veterans in comfort and healing”.

🌺 National Poppy Day 🌺

The ladies of the DeWitt American Legion Auxiliary will be at Randy’s Neighborhood Market and Theisens from 8am - 6pm to distribute poppies in exchange for a donation. The poppies in Flanders Field are a symbol of lives sacrificed in war. They are to be displayed or worn proudly in honor of the fallen. All donations are used to support veterans in our community.

The community is also encouraged to visit the American Legion in Dewitt to see a Flanders Field display on the lawn at 704 9th St DeWitt.
