Delaware County Medical Society Founded in 1850, we are one of the oldest medical societies in the US. www.DelcoMedSoc.org Please contact our staff for more information.

The Delaware County Medical Society is a non-profit professional organization for physicians of all medical & surgical specialties in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1850, and later incorporated as a non-profit organization, the DCMS is an active grassroots organization for physicians. Our members either live or practice in Delaware County, PA, and are of all medical and surgical specialties. They are also in a wide variety of practice modalities, including employed physicians, private practice physicians and also those in administrative, research and academic positions. The society strives to help our physician and practice administrator/manager members, providing day-to-day assistance with the “business” of running a medical practice, as well as helping their patients with access to a wide range of resources in our community. Much of this advice and assistance is provided in conjunction with the outstanding professional staff of the Pennsylvania Medical Society or through referrals to reputable resources within our community. The society is always looking for more members to become involved in our ongoing work and offers leadership development in the process. We encourage members to attend meetings of the Board of Directors and the active DCMS committees, including the Public Health Advocacy Committee; the Practice Management Committee; the Political Advocacy Committee and the new Information and Technology Committee. Another important priority has become advocacy for physicians and the needs of their patients with elected state and national officials and with the staff of various regulatory agencies and third-party entities. The society’s longstanding commitment to the community continues through the work of the Public Health Committee. As coalition builders and active members of many community boards and work groups, the society is active in a very wide range of public health activities including, but not limited to: the Delaware County Suicide Prevention/Awareness Task Force; the Delaware County Child Death Review Team; the Delaware County Health Advisory Board; the Children’s Cabinet; the COSA Protective Services Advisory Board. Physicians and their practice administrators are eligible to become DCMS members.

The Delaware County Medical Society stands with Pennsylvania Medical Society in support of the current childhood vaccine schedule as recommended by legitimate, medically and scientifically based institutions, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA).

The recent Executive Order signed on 10 AUG 2026 has no scientific merit and only serves to create more confusion and degrade trust in medicine.

The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) strongly supports vaccination and other evidence-based practices and has significant concerns about the recent Executive Order signed by President Donald J. Trump on Monday, August 10, 2026.

The Order aims to reduce the number of recommended immunizations for all children and separates out the combined MMR vaccine to three single-disease shots administered in three separate medical visits.

PAMED believes that reducing the recommended vaccines for all children will have a negative impact on a child’s health, as well as public health. Read more: https://buff.ly/u5FCJfH

“Language in health care has ethical and practical implications. Physicians should be referred to as physicians, not providers. Also, when describing professionals with varied credentials who care for patients, the terms clinicians or health care professionals, not providers, should be used.”
