Round Canopy Parachute Team Great Britain - Drop Zone Team.

Do you have an interest in World War Two, Parachuting, working within a team and getting to visit cool places?

RCPT GB is looking for a dedicated Drop Zone crew. We need about 10 committed members, who would be available for only a couple times a year, to take part in commemorative events, where World War Two aircraft drop paratroopers from the sky in places along the south of England.

There are various roles and responsibilities, including Drop Zone safety, positioning panels for reference to the paratroopers and Wind and weather readings.

You don’t have to be able to make ALL of the events, but the more you can make the better. You will receive training, and your role will help with remembering those airborne troops who fought and paid the ultimate sacrifice during WW2.

We have great fun, and is such a rewarding feeling when the job is done!

You don’t have to be into living history or be a reenactor, just have a desire to be a part of something very special!.

If you would like any more info, or have an interest in joining the team, drop a message to either Darrin Courtney or Adrian Hollis, and we can hopefully get you on the team!

Many thanks

RCPT GB

The Round Canopy Parachuting Team – Great Britain is proud to announce Billy Billingham MBE to the team as our newest member but most importantly as our team’s official ambassador.

As many of our followers, supporters, and team members will know, Billy is a huge public figure known for initially serving with the British Parachute Regiment, then for serving over twenty years with the SAS, as a bodyguard for A-list celebrities, and most recently as Chief Instructor on Channel 4’s hit UK show SAS: Who Dares Wins and DS on FOX TV’s hit US show ‘Special Forces World’s Toughest Test’.

As a result of his highly decorated career, he has received numerous awards, including the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery and an MBE presented to Billy by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

We are thrilled to welcome Billy to our organisation, extremely excited to work alongside him, and to jump alongside him very soon!

Good morning everyone , hope you are all fit and well and looking forward to a very exciting 80th aniversary year .
As you have all probably seen in the social media coverage , Day of Days is working in partnership with Aero Legends and RCPT to make the 80th aniversary of D Day a year to remember , Day of Days has been tasked with the job of creating an immersive airborne village , (a mini Upottery airfield as it would have looked in the run up to D Day 1944 ) , this will compliment 4 days of airborne activities such as mass parachute drops on Upottery, fly ins by C47 Dacota aircraft , and many more period aircraft to make the 80th a year which will go down in history .
So , in short we need reenactors and their equipment , British , American Airborne, RAF , home guard , German , period tentage , vehicles , all equipment relating to that period and relevant to Upottery.
An area will be made available for plastic camping , toilets , bring your own water and food , although as this evolves food outlets may well be invited , dates are as follows : we have possession of the airfield from the evening of Sunday 2 june until Friday 7 June at midday , I need to put together a team of people to provide security , Drop Zone Duties and general marshalling of people and aircraft on and around a live airfield so hands on all week if you so wish , a ceremony of rememberance will be held on the airfield to comemorate what took place 80 years before , a fantastic week , I hope you will agree and look forward to welcoming you if you able to attend ,
Please contact myself , Adrian topper Hollis or Dave Allaway’s for more details or email Day of Days on [email protected] for a registration form .
I will be arranging a social get together , likely in March to put together drop zone team and begin training members in readiness for June , venue and date to be confirmed , thanks guys and gals , Thankyou in anticipation for your help with this great event 👍

“Airborne all the way”

“Operation Albany“
A full week long D Day 80th Aniversary Camp on Upottery Airfield, an embarkation point for the D Day airborne invasion of June 5 1944 and made famous many years later by the HBO Series “Band of Brothers”.

Camp is open to individual reenactors and groups not planning to visit Normandy celebrations, WW2 Allied portrayal only please. Tentage, vehicles, weapons etc (plastic camping area will be made available).
Airfield tours can be booked in exchange for a donation to the Nissen hut Heritage Centre.

You can use it as a training excercise, encourage others to get involved in your activities but most of all, educate to preserve the memory of the greatest generation and their sacrifices for us, 80 years on !

A Service of rememberance will be held on the Runway at 22-38 on the 5 June , exactly 80 years after the first C47 left for France.

Register to camp and join us at Upottery and in return you will have AAA privilege on 4/5 June to help out at a very special event being planned on the airfield in the final countdown to D Day plus 80.

To register your interest and receive a booking form contact Darrin or Adrian at Day of Days LHG or email [email protected]

Here is the page for various events happening on the 80th anniversary of D-Day next year.

For those eagle eyed folks out there, you may notice, that Upottery airfield is listed as one of the sites of which C-47 aircraft will once again be taking off from with Round Canopy Parachute Teams aboard to drop over Normandy!

We are proud to be involved with the project, so please share, share, share!
