India is home to 120 million adolescent girls: 1 in every 10 girls globally.
When Milaan started in a rural village in Uttar Pradesh, we saw girls dropping out of school, married off at 14, denied dreams before they even had language for them.
In 2015, we launched the Girl Icon Program: a 12-month leadership journey for adolescent girls to build agency, take action, and shift gender norms from within. Today, more than 100,000 young leaders have been part of this movement.
The results speak for themselves: 94% of Girl Icons continue education (vs. 39% in control groups) and 100% of their peer girls remain unmarried through adolescence (Source: Girl Icon Assessment report).
Girls don't need saving. They need resources, space, and community.
So, this , we're sharing our story. Give us seven minutes. Listen to our co-founder and CEO Pratap Singh talking about the impact of girl leadership and it's potential to transform entire communities, and what we've learned from this incredible work.
