POP was excited to have our Ivylettes & Minor Hall students participate!
Empowering the Next Generation Through Financial Literacy!
Lambda Pi Omega Chapter's YLI (Youth Leadership Institute) committee hosted a session that brought together young scholars for an afternoon of learning, growth, and empowerment-YLI students and the Pearls of Promise Foundation, Incorporated youth groups Minor Hall and Ivyettes. The session brought together young scholars for an afternoon of learning, growth, and empowerment.
The workshop was presented by Michael Cheatham of Comerica Bank, who provided practical and relatable guidance on essential money management skills. Topics included budgeting, saving, understanding credit, and making smart financial decisions—tools that will help our youth build a strong foundation for future success.
A total of 38 enthusiastic youth participants attended the joint session, joined by dedicated soror mentors who continue to guide and support their personal and academic development. The interactive format encouraged thoughtful questions and meaningful discussion, helping participants better understand how to take control of their financial futures.
This workshop reflects Alpha Kappa Alpha’s commitment to equipping young people with the knowledge and resources needed to thrive. By investing in financial literacy, we are helping to prepare the next generation to make informed decisions, pursue their dreams, and build lasting economic stability.
The chapter extends sincere appreciation to Mr. Cheatham, our chapter mentors, and all who helped make this program a success. We look forward to continuing to provide meaningful opportunities that empower and uplift our youth.
