Habari Gani?!

The first principle of Kwanzaa is “Umoja,” which means “unity,” which was reflected this summer by promoting reading, writing, and educational values to build strong, self-sufficient, and self-reliant youth. Our youth, in the Detroit Literacy Coalition’s Young Story Tellers camp, exemplified self-reliance, collaboration, and unity as they self-published an anthology collection of their creative works. They also learned about food security, health literacy, and sustainability by cultivating fruits and vegetables in our community garden. Although their physical harvest was modest, their efforts yielded a rich crop of knowledge and experience. To see the results of their hard work and unity, click on the link below to view their self-published anthology.
