Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph We attend simply and directly to the spiritual and other basic needs, especially those of the poor and disenfranchised, promoting justice for all.

Capuchin Friars from several provinces around the country recently came together for their Fall Meeting in Santa Ynez, California!

We pray that our brothers continue drawing inspiration from the Holy Spirit as they discuss new strategies for evangelization, faith formation, and other initiatives in the service of the mission of St. Francis!

“Living as a disciple of Jesus requires a greater level of vigilance, for the privilege of following him has been granted us by his grace, came at a great price, and has eternal consequences. As an apostle to the Gentiles, St. Paul emphasized the priceless gift they had received in becoming 'coheirs, members of the same Body, and copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the Gospel.'"

Please join us in welcoming our newest affiliates of the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph: Mark and Julie Darnieder and John and Kay Edlebeck!

Both couples have demonstrated a deep commitment to the Capuchin mission through their generosity, service and dedication to those in need.

Mark and Julie founded the Marquette Legal Clinic, which operates out of the House of Peace, while John and Kay have been longtime supporters and volunteers at both ministries. Through their volunteer work, fundraising efforts and ongoing support, both couples have made a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve!

On Wednesday, October 7, the friars gathered at St. Francis Monastery to formally recognize both couples as affiliates of the Province, followed by a reception celebrating their contributions.

We are grateful to Mark, Julie, John and Kay, along with our many generous benefactors, for walking alongside us in our mission. Please join us in congratulating and thanking them for their continued commitment to serving others!

“One of the most difficult things to do in any relationship is to confront someone you care about with evidence of their hypocrisy. In our more honest and enlightened moments, we can admit we are not always consistent in living our faith. We sometimes say one thing but do something different. We preach one message but ignore it in practice. But it is one thing to accuse ourselves and quite another to accuse someone close to us."
