Talk It Out, Walk It Out, our kickoff event for Black Women’s Health Month wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our incredible volunteers! This past weekend we hosted a luncheon to thank them for supporting us as we set out to support the community. Volunteers are the real community leaders who roll up their sleeves and do whatever needs to be done. We couldn’t be more grateful. Special shout out to Chef Frenae of Feasting with the Fox who spoiled us with a delicious homemade meal that included peach cobbler made with FRESH PEACHES! We have the best team of the most loving people anybody could ever ask for. 💟 (Sending love to our team members who couldn’t join us.)

Loved ones are often expected to know how to respond during manic episodes, depressive periods, and other difficult mental health moments without receiving the education or support they need.

This 90-minute virtual info session will provide practical guidance for supporting a loved one through mental health challenges while caring for your own well-being.

The session is for family members, partners, and friends who support someone living with bipolar disorder, PTSD, major depressive disorder, or other mental health conditions.

Join us online on Tuesday, August 25th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm to hear from Dr. Umeika Stephens and licensed professional counselor AlexSaundra Clark, experts in the mental health field. Registration is free on Eventbrite: bwhmcare.eventbrite.com

Raise your hand if you know a Black woman with fibroids. ✋🏾 Did you know: Black women are affected by fibroids at much higher rates than any other group of women, and they often experience symptoms more severely. Yet many Black women spend years managing heavy bleeding, pain, and other symptoms without clear information on what’s causing them or what treatment options are available. (Newsflash: a hysterectomy isn’t the only option)

The Remembering Cherubs team is rolling up our sleeves to shed some light and share resources. Join us on Friday, August 28th at Sip N Read Book Bar for “Black Women & Fibroids: What We Need to Know.” We’ll have a relaxed and informative conversation with leading experts to unpack the impact of fibroids on our community and what we can do to feel more empowered. The Sip N Read team will have mocktails, non-alcoholic and traditional wine on deck for purchase, and we’ll be providing a tasty charcuterie spread while supplies last. Bring your girls and make it a night.

Registration is free on Eventbrite: bwhmsnr.eventbrite.com

Remembering Cherubs is teaming up with Give Fitness! At our recent Black Women’s Health Month kickoff event, Give Fitness Founder Pierre Vinson had us all challenging ourselves and showing us we’re stronger and more capable than we think. We’re gonna keep that same energy going at “Box N Burn” on Thursday, August 20th. It’s a free 30-minute fitness class in honor of Black Women’s Health Month. If you’re a lover, not a fighter like us, don’t worry; we’ll only be punching pads.

Doing fitness activities can feel overwhelming, especially for beginners and people managing health risks. But like Pierre says, don’t wait for perfect. Start where you are and do what you can. And we’re gonna do it together! Sign up for free on Eventbrite and bring a friend: bwhmfit.eventbrite.com

We know it’s Black Women’s Health Month, Remembering Cherubs’ initiative to address the broader health disparities impacting black women. But we are always working on our main mission to support any and all who experience a pregnancy or infant loss. We are honored to walk with these families on their path to healing.

These loss toolkits were just delivered to the wonderful team at Henry Ford Providence. Shoutout to Practice Manager Wilneshia McGahee for ensuring her patients get the care they deserve 💟
