Detroit PBS broke ground Oct. 1 on its new home at 234 Piquette Ave. in Milwaukee Junction, just east of Woodward and across from the Ford Piquette Plant. The station left Detroit for Wixom in 2009, sold that building in 2023 and has worked out of temporary studios since.
The $40 million, 50,000-square-foot Fred and Barbara Erb Public Media Campus puts Detroit PBS and 90.9 WRCJ under one roof for the first time, with a studio theater, an indoor-outdoor stage for live music, a journalism hub and an education center.
The Erb Family Foundation’s $7.5 million challenge grant was met a year early, Wayne County added $2 million, and the campaign is 75% funded. The campus opens in fall 2027.
