A huge thank you to the Michigan Premier Public Health Conference 2026 at the Blue Water Convention Center in Port Huron for having me as a speaker! 🤍

I had the opportunity to present “From Lived Experience to Public Health Impact: Building Healthier Communities Through Community Partnerships,” and it truly meant so much to be able to share my story, the work we do through A Girl Like Me Inc., and how community-based organizations play such an important role in public health.

At AGirlLikeMe , we work directly with girls, young mothers, children, and families by providing education, mentoring, maternal and infant support, essential resources, transportation assistance, workforce development, referrals, and so much more. Public health is not only what happens inside hospitals and clinics, it is also about making sure families have access to the support, resources, education, and connections they need to live healthier lives.

I’m grateful to be able to bring lived experience into these conversations and show how strong community partnerships can create real impact.

And a special thank you to my right hand, our Community Outreach Coordinator Marilyn Williams , for always being by my side, supporting the vision, showing up for our families, and helping make sure the work gets done. I truly appreciate you! ❤️

So thankful to Michigan magazine for taking the time to sit down with me and share my story! 🤍

Every time I get the opportunity to talk about my journey, A Girl Like Me Inc., becoming a teen mom at 14, and everything that has grown from that chapter of my life, I’m reminded of just how far God has brought me. 🙏🏾

I’m grateful for platforms that allow people like me to share the REAL journey — the struggles, the growth, the lessons, the purpose, and the beautiful things that can come from an unexpected beginning.

I want to give a huge thank you to Michigan Organization on Adolescent Sexual Health (MOASH) for choosing and trusting me to lead a 90-minute presentation on Mentoring yesterday! 🙏🏾🤍

I was soooo nervous going into it, but I am so proud of myself because I did GREAT! 🥹🙌🏾 What made it even better was seeing everyone participate, engage, and really get involved in the interactive activities I included throughout the presentation.

This was such a special moment for me and a reminder that sometimes you have to step outside of your comfort zone and trust the gift God gave you. I’m proud of myself, grateful for the opportunity, and excited for what’s next! 🎤✨

This story follows five 14-year-old girls from completely different backgrounds whose lives unexpectedly change when pregnancy brings them together at A Girl Like Me. What starts with fear, shame, and uncertainty slowly becomes a story about sisterhood, healing, resilience, identity, and hope.

This book is so personal to me because I know what it feels like to have your life take an unexpected turn at a young age. I wanted to create a story that reminds girls everywhere that one chapter does not define your whole life.
