They get the name from their clothing and attitudes, which tend to be on the tropical side, with a touch of the unusual. They are also deeply involved in charitable works, donating time and money to organizations that need help. There are more than 200 Parrot Head clubs in 45 states and seven countries, with more than 23,000 members. These clubs are registered as not-for-profit organizations unde

Who are the Lakes Area Parrot Heads? We are the regional chapter of Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc. As part of our charter, we are required to do a minimum of four charity events every year. Based in Detroit Lakes, Minn., our membership ranges from Minnesota’s lakes country (hence the name) into the Fargo-Moorhead metro area, with other
members in Nebraska, Manitoba, western North Dakota and Missouri. Our members are all ages, with one common goal, "looking for a good reason to have fun, and give back while doing it."

Which charities do the Lakes Area Parrot Heads support? Quite a few... fundraising, volunteering, collecting food and clothes—it’s easiest to list them like this:

How do I get involved with the Lakes Area Parrot Heads? Come join us at one of our meetings (second Saturday of the month) at Zorbaz in Detroit Lakes. Our dues are $25 per person, per year, and you have to participate in club activities. There are other gatherings as well that aren't so formal, but we also enjoy having fun while we do our charity work.
