His groundbreaking understanding of alcoholism as an illness would later become a cornerstone of the Alcoholics Anonymous program and helped pave the way for millions of people to find recovery.

In this special recording from Dr. Silkworth's gravesite in Long Branch, New Jersey., A member of Alcoholics Anonymous shares a beautiful excerpt and reflection honoring the physician whose work changed countless lives.
