The main objective of Rotary is service in the community, in the workplace and throughout the world.

Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development.

Celebrate Veteran's Day by dedicating a flag in honor or memory of a service member or by sponsoring a celebration flag.

Flags will be displayed along Madison Ave Nov 10-12. All proceeds will help support local programs and community efforts of the Rotary Club of Derby. Help us create Miles of Flags this Veteran's Day.

Join us this coming Friday, October 16th to hear from guest, Chief Operation Officer for EMPAC Heather Wiley, MBA, CCP. Empac is a local, non-profit employee assistance program (EAP) dedicated to providing excellent services to companies, employees and the employee family members.

Heather began her career in child welfare as she obtained a BA in Social Work from Wichita State, and served children and families in the foster care system for 18 years. Eager to continue her interest in learning, Heather obtained her MBA with an emphasis in Change Management from Friends University in 2017. This ignited her passion for learning about organizations inside and out. Heather spent several years of her career dedicated to Human Resources assisting organizations invest in their greatest asset: their employees. Ultimately recognizing that a healthy workplace culture is the key to success in any industry, Heather become a Certified Coach Practitioner in 2022.

Nine chilis were entered and tasted, but only one could be the champion of the annual Rotary Club of Derby Chili Cook-Off! Congratulations, Tom Keil! Runners-up were John Bode and Heather Bohaty in yet another tight race.

Every year in October, the Rotary Club of Derby hosts a Chili Cook-Off to kick-off Polio Plus month. Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 45 years. Our goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever. Want to know more about Polio Plus and the fight to eradicate polio, ask a Rotarian today!

It finally feels like fall outside! Just in time for the annual Rotary Club of Derby Chili Cook-Off!

Join us this coming Friday, October 2nd at 12:00 p.m. in the library's Community Room and taste delicious chili made by your fellow Rotarians! Vote on your favorites, and we'll crown a winner! Bring a friend!

We will also be raising money for Polio Plus. Rotary International set a goal in 1985 to eradicate polio. We are getting closer every day, but we are still not at full eradication yet. Polio is still endemic in Afghanistan and Pakistan. You can join the PolioPlus Society by donating $100 annually, but any amount helps!

You can also bring your donation for the Dictionary Project! We have raised $4,500 of the $6,000 goal. Help us provide a brand new dictionary to every 3rd grader in the Derby area.

Bring a friend to Rotary! Derby Rotary is participating in the District 5680 Fall Membership Challenge, and we're looking to grow our club's impact, one guest at a time! Every first-time guest counts toward our club's total, and the club with the most friends-per-member by Dec. 31 will win $1,000 for a future club project!

This is a great chance to introduce someone to Rotary and show them what our club is all about. Who are you bringing?

It may not feel like fall 🍁 outside, but football 🏈 season is upon us nonetheless! And we're bringing back the Rotary Pick 'Em League which benefits the annual dictionary project! 🎉

Whether you’ve played before or are brand new, this is a fun and easy way to enjoy football while supporting Rotary’s work in our community.

👉 Here’s how it works!
Step 1 – If you do NOT have a login for CBSSPORTS.COM and create an account first.

Step 3 – Entry fees must be paid by Monday, September 7th. The Entry Fee is $3/week or $54 for the Season. $1 each week goes to the weekly winner, $1 goes to the Season Winner, and $1 goes to help support Derby Rotary. We will unfortunately need to remove players from the league that have not been paid by the deadline.

Step 4 – Each week login into CBS Sports either on a PC or you can download the CBS Sports App. Pick who will win each game. We are NOT picking against the spread, just the winner or loser. The person with the most picks wins the week. The Season Winner is determined by the most correct picks for the season. ALL winners will be paid out at the end of the season (NOT each week).

Join us this coming Friday, September 4th to hear from guest, Travis Heying, photo journalist for the Wichita Eagle. Heying will report on the amazing renovations at the Orpheum Theater.

Travis Heying has been a photojournalist in Wichita for 30 years. He's photographed news and sporting events not only in Kansas, but across the globe. In addition to photography, Travis has won a regional Emmy and two national Edward R. Murrow Awards for his work on documentary films. In his spare time, he plays drums in the local roots rock band Sometimes on Sunday.

Join us this coming Friday, August 21st to hear from guest, Erica Whitney, Associate Director of Development for the EmberHope Foundation.

EmberHope Youthville is a faith-based Kansas nonprofit that supports at-risk children, teens, and families through foster care, residential treatment, and family counseling. Headquartered in Newton, Kansas, with offices across the state, it provides trauma-informed care designed to help vulnerable youth heal and build stable futures

Erica Whitney is the Associate Director of Development at EmberHope Youthville, where she builds meaningful partnerships and invites the community to come alongside children and families impacted by foster care. A Wichita State University graduate with 10 years of marketing and communications experience, Erica is passionate about connecting people with opportunities to make a lasting impact and is excited to continue growing in nonprofit development and fundraising.
Erica lives in Derby with her husband and two young children and is honored to share the past, present, and future of EmberHope Youthville.

Who knew so many amazing humans who do amazing things for other people lived in Derby?!
