A little playtime outside on this beautiful day!

These little kits won’t be babies for much longer. They’re beginning to wean and preparing for life outside!

Judging by today, they can’t wait!

They had a blast. 🦝 🌳

It’s Wishlist Wednesday! 🛒

Uh oh… we’re down to our last roll of paper towels! 😬 With cages to clean, dishes to wash, and lots of growing babies making big messes, we go through them faster than you’d think.

We’re also down to our last package of puppy pads and could really use more.

As our babies continue to grow, fresh produce is always appreciated too! 🍎🥕🥬

We gladly accept porch drop-offs. If you’d like to help, send us a message for more information.

As always, thank you for supporting the wildlife in our care. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference. ❤️

He died today from pesticide poisoning…

Farmers are out spraying their fields with poison & this guy most likely was just trying to catch his next meal.

They ingest the poison after catching contaminated prey or even just preening their feathers…

He came in unable to stand, with tremors and severe neurologic distress. Even though he was in good body condition, the toxin had already done irreversible damage.

We as humans have to do better.
There are ways to manage pests without taking out the wildlife.

How to support what we do 👇

A gentleman from the Floyds K***s area, found this little girl all alone and thankfully decided to scoop her up and get her help. She was covered in fly strike and ticks, severely dehydrated, and needed subcutaneous fluids upon arrival. Despite everything she’s been through, she has a great appetite and is already showing some fight. Her stool is currently completely liquid, so we have a treatment plan in place and will be monitoring her closely.
Hopefully, after completing quarantine and getting a clean bill of health, she’ll be able to join the others.

How you can help:
🦨 Donate toward her care and medical supplies.
🦨 Purchase an item from our wishlist.
🦨 Share our posts to help us reach more wildlife supporters.

We are volunteer-run and receive no state or federal funding. Every donation helps us provide lifesaving care to animals like this little girl.

6 more young opossums were successfully released back into the wild yesterday evening.
Wishing them a safe, wild future where they belong.

Every animal that makes it back to the wild is possible because of your support.
If you’d like to help us give more orphaned and injured wildlife a second chance, donations of any size make a difference and help provide formula, food, medical care, and housing for the animals still in our care.
We also accept fresh produce. We can always work out a pick up time. We are going through LOTS of it!

Thank you for helping us help them. 🦝🦨🦉

My hairstylist may be tiny, but she’s very dedicated to her work. 🦝💇‍♀️💕

Denise’s big kids will surely make you laugh! 🦝

The raccoons weren’t quite sure what to do first…wash the nuts, roll them around, carry them off, or eat them. They spent more time investigating and playing with them than actually eating them, and it was hilarious to watch!

Raccoons are naturally curious and love enrichment, so these nuts turned into a full-blown adventure. They had an absolute blast figuring them out!

Today we’re celebrating one of the most misunderstood animals we care for at Nature’s Nest Wildlife Rehabilitation…. SKUNKS!
It’s National Skunk Day! 🦨

Skunks are gentle, intelligent creatures that play an important role in our ecosystem by helping control insects, rodents, and other pests.
Despite their reputation, skunks would much rather avoid conflict than spray.
In fact, they give plenty of warning before using their famous defense mechanism! 💨 😷

Every year, we admit orphaned and injured skunks that need a second chance. From tiny babies that fit in the palm of your hand to curious juveniles learning how to forage, each one reminds us just how special these animals truly are.

Help us celebrate National Skunk Day by sharing your favorite story in the comments! 👇👇
