What a convening! Thank you to the incredible rural education leaders who joined us in Salida for the CREC Summer Convening 2025, and a special thank you to Susana Cordova and the Colorado Department of Education for attending and sending a strong message of support for rural education.

Together, we tackled big questions:
❓How can we better recruit and retain rural educators?
❓What does responsible AI use look like in the classroom?
❓How do we ensure fair accountability and finance systems for rural districts?
❓What’s next for housing, coaching, SPED staffing, and CTE access?

In 2016, the Colorado Rural Education Collaborative was just a year into its existence, partnering with 30 school districts, serving 12,000 students and 987 teachers.

Fast forward to today, and we've grown to 87 school districts, supporting 65,718 students and 4,905 teachers across rural Colorado! 🚀

Over the past decade, we've secured over $43 million in funding to strengthen rural education through initiatives in teacher recruitment and retention, STEM, college & career readiness, social and emotional learning, and more.
