MAY IS MOTORCYCLE SAFETY AWARENESS MONTH

Last year, 148 motorcyclists were killed on Colorado roads and that's 148 too many. May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and we are encouraging motorists to use extra caution and share the road with motorcyclists as they hit the road in greater numbers in the coming months.

Here are some tips for drivers to help avoid colliding with a motorcycle:

🛵➡️ Allow extra space when following a motorcycle as they can stop and turn more quickly than other vehicles.

🚧🛣️ Allow motorcycles the full width of a lane at all times.

👀⚠️ Motorcycles can be hard to see at a distance, so use extra caution when turning left at an intersection.

🪞👁️‍🗨️ Check your mirrors and blind spots for motorcycles before changing lanes or merging with traffic.

🚫📱🍷 Never drive distracted or impaired.

Additionally, motorcyclists are also urged to take precautions to remain safe on the road by wearing protective gear, obeying the speed limit and never riding impaired. Most motorcyclists who are killed in traffic crashes are not wearing helmets.

Off to our first ride Party of 4

Even though the Colorado weather threw a curve, we responded with a shorter local ride.

We left Thornton and rode thru Boulder then on to Lyons for a short stretch. Then back to Longmont for a great breakfast at Goodfella's Diner.

From there we each rode and split ways to head to our casas

If you weren't able to make it there was a spot missing you. Let's get together again and hopefully you can make it.
