Congratulations to one of our own!

Cocalico Youth Soccer Club is proud to recognize Coach Chrissy Auker for being selected as a nominee for the Lancaster Area Recreational Soccer (LARS) Fall 2025 Outstanding Coach Award. Coach Chrissy was presented this award today by Lancaster Area Recreational Soccer League LARS.

Coach Chrissy was nominated by families and players who highlighted the positive impact she has had on their children, both on and off the field. Her dedication to player development, encouragement, and sportsmanship reflects the values we strive to promote throughout our club.

In addition to serving as a coach and parent, Chrissy works tirelessly behind the scenes as our Club Registrar, helping keep Cocalico Youth Soccer running smoothly for hundreds of players and families.

Please join us in congratulating Coach Chrissy on this well-deserved recognition and thanking her for the countless hours she gives to our soccer community. We are grateful to have leaders like her representing Cocalico Youth Soccer Club.

⚽ Did you know that a youth soccer field can be less than half the size of a FIFA World Cup pitch?

As players grow and develop, so does the size of the field they play on. Small-sided formats like 7v7 and 9v9 are designed to give young players more touches on the ball, more opportunities to make decisions, and an environment that matches their stage of development.

The graphic below shows how recommended field sizes progress from 7v7 (U9–U10) to 9v9 (U11–U12) and eventually to full-sided 11v11 soccer. This step-by-step approach helps players build confidence, improve their skills, and prepare for the next level of the game.

📅 Not sure what age group your player belongs in? Check out the age group chart included in this post. Starting with the Fall 2026 season, US Soccer returns to a school-year registration format using birthdates from August 1 through July 31.

⚽ VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: U6 COORDINATOR NEEDED! ⚽

Do you enjoy working with young children and helping create positive first experiences in youth sports?

Cocalico Youth Soccer Club is looking for a volunteer to serve as our U6 Coordinator and help lead one of the most important programs in our club.

For many players, U6 is their first introduction to soccer. The U6 Coordinator helps create an environment where players can learn, grow, make friends, and develop a lifelong love for the game.

Responsibilities include:
✅ Coordinating the U6 program
✅ Assisting with player placement and team formation
✅ Recruiting and supporting volunteer coaches
✅ Providing resources and guidance to coaches
✅ Promoting age-appropriate player development and fun

This role is ideal for a parent, coach, educator, or anyone passionate about youth development and community involvement.

The time commitment is manageable, but the impact on our youngest players is tremendous.

Our club is built entirely by volunteers. Positions like this help us continue providing a quality soccer experience for hundreds of local children every season.

🚨 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – RISK & SAFETY COORDINATOR 🚨

Cocalico Youth Soccer Club is looking for a volunteer to serve as our Risk & Safety Coordinator.

This position plays an important role in helping keep our players, coaches, volunteers, and families safe while supporting the club’s compliance with league and safety requirements.

The role is a great fit for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and wants to make a meaningful impact behind the scenes. No soccer experience is required—just a willingness to help support the club and our players.

Responsibilities include:
✅ Tracking volunteer clearances and required documentation
✅ Assisting with safety and compliance efforts
✅ Supporting incident reporting and recordkeeping
✅ Helping promote a safe and positive environment for all participants
✅ Working with the Board on risk reduction initiatives

The time commitment is relatively small, but the impact on our club is significant.

Our club is entirely volunteer-driven. Positions like this help us continue providing a safe, organized, and positive soccer experience for hundreds of local players each season.

Cocalico Youth Soccer Club is seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Directors.

The Treasurer plays a key role in the success and stability of our club by helping oversee finances, maintain records, process payments, and provide financial guidance to the Board.

While soccer experience is always welcomed, it is not required. If you are organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with budgets and financial records, and want to make a meaningful impact on youth sports in our community, we would love to talk with you.

This position helps ensure that registration fees, equipment purchases, field maintenance, scholarships, tournaments, and player development opportunities are managed responsibly for the benefit of all CYSC families.

We know volunteering is a commitment, but it’s also one of the most rewarding ways to support the players, coaches, and families who make our club special.
