Did you know that there are certain instances where you ARE NOT GOING TO BE ARRESTED if you call to report someone you think is overdosing; even if you have been "partying" too?

Yep! The Overdose Bystander Law - HB 1694 - also known as The Jessica Sosa Act establishes a defense to prosecution in certain cases for people who call 911 for a possible overdose.

No one should be abandoned when they are overdosing, no matter the circumstances. This person needs immediate medical attention and those with them need to get them the help they need! Seconds count in a overdose and arguing over who is going to call (or if there is going to be a call made)(please make this call-don't wait) is preventing life-saving help from arriving in time.

Remember, you can be a hero and carry naloxone! You NEVER know when you might need it. If you don't have naloxone, message us so we can get you a free dose to have for emergencies.

Finding access to resources is the first step to preventing opioid misuse and potential overdose. Part of our mission is to help educate the general public to help avoid these preventable deaths. While addiction is a bear to fight, you are not alone. If you search "how to prevent fentanyl overdose," the first result is https://txopioidresponse.org
Sponsored by Texas Health and Human Services, this website has a TON of resources. You can learn more about opioids, how to become an everyday hero by carrying and administering naloxone (an opioid reversing agent that restores breathing to prevent an overdose), and finding guidance on how to speak to someone who you think is abusing opioids. here is a section for finding prevention, treatment and recovery resources near you, as well as a Community Leader Toolkit to help educate your local community.
Time to Act!

Be an everyday Texas hero. Carry naloxone to save a life. One in four Texans has experienced an opioid overdose (or poisoning) or knows someone who has. You can save a life by knowing how to respond when someone is experiencing an overdose from opioids, including fentanyl. Watch to learn the signs ....

One of the most "take your breath away" installations at our NTOAD event is the Memory Wall!
Standing before all the smiling faces of those who have been lost to overdose really hits home because there is not a single thing anyone has in common...overdose cuts through race, color, creed, socioeconomic status, age...overdose carries a universal vulnerability.

We wish there was no need for the memory wall and we do the hard things so that we can help educate everyone we meet to help stop this epidemic!!! Many of our followers and event attendees know the pain of losing a loved one to overdose. North Texas Overdose Awareness Day was created in memory of Randy Roland who died of an overdose days after his 32nd birthday! You can read about Randy's story at roonow.org.

If you'd like your loved ones lost to overdose remembered in a meaningful way, you can become an "In Memory Of" Sponsor of the NTOAD event. Memory Sponsorship will include your loved ones name on our NTOAD 2026 event t-shirt, in our social media sponsor posts, on sponsorship signage at the event, and sponsors will receive a NTOAD 2026 event t-shirt.
Message us for the Sponsorship Form.

Will you take a moment and share our flyer.....literally......EVERYWHERE....we would be so appreciative!!!

You can also tag our North Texas Overdose Awareness Day 2026 event and indicate your attendance!

Reducing the stigma of overdose is an uphill battle but one that is so worthwhile to fight! The more people who know about our event, the more people who will learn how to combat this terrible epidemic.

Event attendees will also find community and healing after their world has stopped when a loved one loses their battle to addiction or their life to one pill. It is our goal to provide event attendees with tools to be able to prevent these tragedies before they happen.

Our Sponsors and Resource Partners are the lifeblood of this event and you will not want to miss the opportunity to come out and learn what they have to offer! Be sure to ask how to become a sponsor or host a table as a resource provider at our event!
