Not every Friday night includes an Olympian at the Shabbat table.

At last night’s Sports Shabbat at UNT, we had the opportunity to welcome Olympian Jared Firestone, known as the “Jewish Jet.” He joined us for dinner and shared his journey, along with stories from the Olympics and what his Jewish identity means to him.

We also tested everyone’s sports knowledge with a Kahoot and, unsurprisingly, Jared came out on top — but what stayed with me most was the sense of community in the room and how special it felt to experience Shabbat together.

Grateful to our donors and to StandWithUs for making last night possible.

Last night we capped off an incredible Israel Week with our Israel Shabbat! We celebrated and sent off our amazing Seniors, we wish them the very best in their future. Thank you to everyone for an amazing semester at UNT, and we are very excited for what the future holds! Shabbat Shalom!
