KIND History: The Katy Depot
Few buildings tell Denison’s story quite like the Katy Depot.
Built in 1911, the Depot served as the gateway to our city during the golden age of rail travel. For generations, it welcomed travelers arriving in a town built by the railroad.
More than a century later, the building is still bringing people together. Today it’s home to weddings, community events, and the Red River Railroad Museum, which opened in 2009 to help preserve the stories that shaped Denison.
History isn’t just something that happened here, it’s still standing right in the middle of Downtown.
What’s your favorite Katy Depot memory? 🚂
Please excuse slide 3 as I forgot to change out the photo of hotel Denison’s after the fire, to learn more about that visit our previous history post!
