Nancy Valenkamph Cancer Foundation

On February 22, 2010 my wife Nancy lost her battle to neuro-endocrine carcinoma, a very rare cancer with no explanation to the cause.

I pledged to Nancy that I would continue the work she started in fund raising efforts for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Program and I would dedicate my life to raising money to find a cure.

This July, Bert will be walking 62 miles in memory and honor of my family and friends who have been affected by cancer.

Cancer has touched too many lives, and this is one small way I can help make a difference.

The money raised will support cancer research through the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Program, with a special focus on the Tippecanoe County Relay For Life.

I’ll be practicing throughout June and will share updates along the way. Once July begins, I’ll also be posting my miles as I work toward the full 62-mile goal.

June is National Cancer Survivor Month — a time to honor the strength, courage, and resilience of cancer survivors everywhere.

Millions of survivors continue to inspire us with their stories of hope, perseverance, and life after a cancer diagnosis. But survivorship is more than finishing treatment. Many survivors continue to face physical, emotional, and financial challenges long after the diagnosis and treatment journey.

National Cancer Survivors Day, held on the first Sunday in June, helps kick off this important month by celebrating life, honoring survivors, and reminding every survivor that their story matters.

The Nancy Valenkamph Cancer Foundation proudly honors cancer survivors on our website.

Brain cancer journeys are often stories of courage, resilience, and strength.

May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month — also known as Brain Tumor Awareness Month or Gray May.

This month is dedicated to supporting patients and families, raising awareness, funding research, and highlighting the urgent need for better treatment options for those facing brain cancer and brain tumors.

Each year, more than 23,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with brain and other nervous system cancers. Brain and spinal cord tumors are also among the most common cancers diagnosed in children, which makes awareness and research even more important.

Gray is the awareness color for brain tumors — a symbol of strength, hope, and support for everyone impacted.

The Nancy Valenkamph Cancer Foundation is proud to stand with patients, families, caregivers, researchers, and organizations like the American Cancer Society in supporting brain cancer research and awareness.
