Out and about in my "backyard", aka Delco...today I'm visiting Senior Community Services, a local senior center in honor of Older Americans Month.

Since 1963 May has been named Older Americans Month to celebrate the achievements and contributions of our elders. This year's theme is "Champion Your Health".

Check out how Older Americans Month is celebrated in your backyard, and while you're out there, don't forget to support your local animal shelter, whatever your "local" may be.

Just the girls, exploring our "backyard", aka Delco on a beautiful spring day.

We decided to start at Rose Tree Park because they have an awesome playground, and Taranis, being a youngster, loves to play. As you can see, she wouldn't even sit still long enough to get a picture before she was running to play.

The playground opened in 2023 and is an ADA-inclusive playground. There's all sorts of cool things like a climbing tower, swings, and monkey bars; all made to allow children with disabilities to actively play.

Go see what you can find at the playgrounds in your backyard, and while you're out there, don't forget to support your local animal shelter, whatever your "local" may be.

If you're from our "backyard", aka Delco, you're likely "Flyered Up" about now.

We finally found Taranis, and she "Ignited the Orange"...all over her white chest. Little ones these days....she was even talking back to Failinis...all in support of her favorite hockey team, and in hopes to meet Gritty.

Taranis needs to give a huge shout out to for helping her find pet safe orange paint...where else would you go to find things out but your local library!

Hopefully you're having fun rooting for the teams in your backyard, and while you're out there, don't forget to support your local animal shelter, whatever your "local" may be.

Still outside of our "backyard", aka Delco and still looking for Taranis. We haven't seen her since she snuck through the Leprechaun door at Coleman's Irish Pub.

While we were searching for Taranis we found this. Tipperary Hill in Syracuse is the only place in the United States with an upside down traffic light. Apparently, back in the 1920's when the traffic light was first installed, some Irish youth thought the traditional light symbolized the "British" red on top of the "Irish" green and flipped the light. Eventually the city allowed the light to stay with the green light on top.

Check out the history in your backyard, and while you're out there, don't forget to support your local animal shelter, whatever your "local" may be...and please also look for Taranis.

So not exactly our "backyard", aka Delco, but this is really cool. On our trip to Syracuse we found an Irish Pub with a Leprechaun door.

Coleman's Irish Pub was established in 1933 in Tipperary Hill. We had to stop by and visit, after all we are Irish Wolfhounds...

Unfortunately Taranis snuck through the Leprechaun door and we haven't seen her since. We'll keep looking...

Do us a favor and keep an eye out for Taranis in your backyard, and while you're out there don't forget to support your local animal shelter, whatever your "local" may be.

Meet the newest member of our pack, who will be soon joining us to explore our "backyard", aka Delco.

This is Taranis (Gaelic God of Thunder). Technically her name is Hops-N-Hounds Rigaudon's Trying to Reason Taranis...for the Buffett fans out there, yes, her name did come from Trying to Reason in Hurricane Season...

While we prepare to become Delco Dog and Daughter (and Cousin?) we hope you're still out exploring your backyard. And while you're out there, don't forget to support your local animal shelter, whatever your "local" may be.

Out and about in the cold to go sledding at one of the hills in our "backyard", aka Delco.

Of course, even with our fur, we need to have our winter gear on, and you should too if you go out.

Check out cool sledding spots in your backyard, and while you're out there, don't forget to dress warm, AND support your local animal shelter, whatever your "local" may be...

Had to stop for gas while we're out exploring our "backyard", aka Delco. And check this out...we are at the 1000th Wawa fuel store. Right here in our backyard!!!

The store opened on December 11th, and apparently their mascot, Wally Goose and the Eagles' Swoop were at the grand opening. I'm sure our invitation just got lost in the mail...no hard feelings, we're still super excited to have this milestone in Delco.

Check out the Wawas in your backyard, and while you're out there, don't forget to support your local animal shelter, whatever your "local" may be...

Thinking of warmer days and being out and about in our "backyard", aka Delco. Here's a picture from our visit to Little Flower Manor Park. This was once an encampment for British soldiers during the Revolutionary War and is currently one of the larger undeveloped tracks along the Great Minquas Path used in the pre-colonial beaver pelt trade between the Lenni-Lenape and European settlers.

Think of the great places you'll be able to visit in your backyard once it's warmer; and while you're out there don't forget to support your local animal shelter, whatever your "local" may be.

In anticipation of the upcoming storm, we're out at one of the libraries in our "backyard", aka Delco to pick up some books in case we're stuck in the house for a bit.

Yeadon Library is one of the twenty-six libraries in our system. Yeadon Public Library has over 50,000 items, so we're certainly able to find something that peaks our interest.

Check out what libraries have in your backyard, there's nothing like spending a cold day under the covers with a good book! And, while you're out there, don't forget to support your local animal shelter, whatever your "local" may be.
