DID YOU KNOW? The dreaded check engine light is ON. Numerous things can trigger the Check Engine Light, never ignore it. But how urgent it is depends on how the light is behaving.

If the light is Flashing, this is URGENT; A flashing check engine light usually means a serious issue, often an engine misfire that can damage your catalytic converter. You should stop driving and have your car checked out by a professional mechanic.

A steady light usually means the issue is less urgent but still needs attention. Common causes include:

Loose or faulty gas cap, Oxygen sensor issue, Spark plug or ignition coil problem, Emissions-related fault to name a few.

in two cases last week and today the code was PO128 that indicates the engine coolant temperature is below the thermostat's regulated temperature, meaning the engine is running too cold or taking too long to warm up.

Common symptoms include an illuminated Check Engine Light, a lower-than-normal temperature gauge reading, poor heater performance, and reduced fuel efficiency.

Common Causes for P0128:
Stuck Open Thermostat: The most common cause, allowing coolant to circulate too soon.
Low or Contaminated Coolant: Low levels prevent proper heat regulation.
Faulty Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS): The sensor gives incorrect, low readings to the PCM.
Malfunctioning Cooling Fan: The fan runs constantly or is stuck on.

Catastrophic Failure of Outer Tie Rod Ends: Complete Separation
The most significant danger is the potential for the ball joint within the outer tie rod end to completely separate from its socket. At a Virginia high school, students in an automotive technology program are turning classroom lessons into life changing impact. They repair donated vehicles during school hours and then donate them free of charge to single mothers who need reliable transportation. The hands on project teaches technical skills while giving families safe, dependable cars that help them work, care for their children, and stay independent.
