Flag Day & U.S. Army Birthday – June 14

Today we honor two powerful symbols of American strength and freedom.

On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes, our enduring symbol of liberty, unity, and sacrifice.
And on that same day, the United States Army was born, standing watch for 250 years as the backbone of our nation’s defense.

From the battlefield to communities at home, Soldiers have carried forward a legacy of courage, commitment, and service above self.

As members of the American Legion Family, we proudly recognize both our flag and those who have defended it under it.
❤️🤍💙 Happy Flag Day
🎖️ Happy Birthday, U.S. Army

Eighty-four years ago, the Battle of Midway marked a turning point in the Pacific during World War II. Through the courage of Sailors, aviators, and intelligence specialists, the U.S. Navy delivered a decisive blow to the Imperial Japanese Navy, shifting the balance of power in the Pacific and changing the course of the war.

American codebreakers helped identify Japanese plans before the attack, giving U.S. forces the opportunity to prepare and respond. During the battle, Sailors and aviators aboard USS Enterprise, USS Hornet, and USS Yorktown displayed extraordinary bravery and determination in the face of overwhelming odds. Their actions resulted in the loss of four Japanese aircraft carriers and halted further enemy expansion across the Pacific.

Today, the crew of USS Constitution honors the legacy of those who fought at Midway and all who have served our nation at sea. The battle stands as a reminder that readiness, teamwork, and perseverance can shape the course of history. Their sacrifice, resilience, and commitment to duty continue to inspire America’s Ship of State and the Sailors who carry her traditions forward as they preserve and represent more than two centuries of naval service.

With the rising temperatures this week, we wanted to make sure our local 1st Responders stay hydrated. Hunter Munch and the Post Commander were able to deliver the water to the DeKalb Fire Department, DeKalb Police Department and DeKalb County Sheriff's Department! Hunter's father was a retired 1st Responder and through his donation Hunter was able to honor his father's legacy by giving back to his former coworkers! What a great way to honor those that serve our community!
