📚 Curriculum Night is tomorrow!

Tuesday, August 25 · at Talley 🕕 Session 1: 6:00–6:30 🕡 Session 2: 6:45–7:15

Here's the part worth reading twice: the two sessions are identical. Same information, same teachers, said twice on purpose.

So —

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Two kids at Talley? Go to one child's classroom at 6:00 and the other's at 6:45. You are not missing anything in either room, and the 15 minutes in between is plenty of time to walk down the hall. Nobody has to split up and compare notes in the parking lot.

👤 One kid? Pick whichever session fits your evening better. Coming straight from work — take the later one. Need to get home for bedtime — take the earlier one. There's no "main" session.

📍 Where to go: straight to your child's classroom. There will be signs up and plenty of people around to point you in the right direction — you don't need to know the building to do this.

🧩 LINKS families: your meeting is at 5:30–6:00, right before the sessions start. Come a little early.

👋 One more thing: this one's for grown-ups only. Teachers will be talking about curriculum, expectations, and how the year runs — it's a lot of adult logistics and not much fun for students.

⏰ One week left on the Annual Donation drive.

If you saw this a couple of weeks ago, thought "yes, we should do that," and then a lunchbox needed washing and a form needed signing and it left your brain entirely — this post is for you. No judgment. That's most of us.

Sunday, August 31 is the deadline. It takes about two minutes.

And in case you need the reminder of what your gift actually turns into:

🐾 $25 — 6 books for the TRUE book fair, or 3 House shirts for incoming 3rd graders and new students 🐾 $50 — a holiday gift card for a Talley staff member, or 2 yearbooks for students in need 🐅 $100 — 6 Tigerfest tickets for students in need, or supplies for Reading Bowl, YLOE, or GENTS 🏆 $250 — a full snack cart rollout for our teachers, or support for a 5th grader to go to Tybee

Every one of those is a real thing that either happens this year or doesn't.

Give at whatever level fits your family. We'd rather have a hundred families at $25 than a handful of families carrying the whole school — that's not just nicer, it's how a PTO stays a community organization instead of a few people's side project.

Our Annual Donation drive is open through Sunday, August 31 — and it might be the easiest thing on your back-to-school list. One gift, given now, that we spend across the entire school year on Talley students and staff.

Here's the part we think matters most: we can tell you exactly what your money buys. These aren't vague promises. They're line items.

🐾 Cub Level — $25 helps with 6 books for the true book fair · 3 House shirts for incoming 3rd graders and new students · 25 popsicles at the Popsicle Social · 8 bags of mulch for the garden

🐾 Paw Print Level — $50 helps with a new carnival game for Tigerfest · a holiday gift card for a Talley staff member · 12 book fair books · 2 yearbooks for students in need · a student-of-the-month celebration

🐯 Myth: being a Room Parent will eat your whole year.

Fact: here is the entire job.

✔️ Buy your teacher's gifts — with money the school already collected. You're not fundraising, you're not chipping in. You're shopping with someone else's budget, which is arguably the best kind of shopping.

✔️ Forward the PTO's monthly email to your class parents. We write it. You hit forward. That's the whole task.

✔️ Set up a sign-up list when your teacher needs snacks or party supplies. You're not baking forty cupcakes — you're making the link where other people volunteer to.

That's it. That's the role. No standing in a hallway at 7am, no meetings you have to rearrange your life around. Every piece of it can be done from your couch, in your pajamas, at 9:47pm on a Tuesday.

Pump up the tires tonight, put the shoes by the door, and set the alarm five minutes early — Friday, August 14, we're getting to Talley on our own two feet (or two wheels).

Not a whole-way kind of morning? Park a few blocks from school and walk the last stretch. Still counts. Genuinely.

🚲 Our first Walk & Roll of the year is this Friday!

Friday, August 14 — walk, bike, scoot, skate, or park a few blocks out and walk the last stretch in. However your family gets to Talley under its own steam, it counts.

Prefer to head out your own front door and go? That counts every bit as much.

This is the first of our monthly Walk & Roll days, so it's worth building the habit early: kids arrive awake and wiggled-out, the carpool line gets shorter, and the block gets a little friendlier on the way.
