St. Ann students had a blast releasing newly-hatched butterflies in our school garden. We hope that these butterflies plan to live in our school garden and will visit the kids again soon!

A day in the life of St. Ann School...

At St. Ann, we understand Catholic education not only to be about academics, but an invitation to the whole life of faith: "Ultimately, the end of education is the Beatific Vision, man’s final destiny in the Kingdom of God: direct knowledge and love of God and fellowship with the angels and saints. All genuine learning tends toward this fulfillment and seeks to order the human person to God in charity and service. The fruits are true worship, holiness, and full participation in the Church’s liturgical and sacramental life, culminating in wisdom and contemplation." The Front Royal Statement paragraph 1.

"Let them once get in touch with nature, and a habit is formed which will be a source of delight through life." - Charlotte Mason

At St. Ann, students are given intentional time for nature study which is done to cultivate deep attention, train the senses, and foster a lifelong sense of wonder through direct, firsthand observation of the natural world.

At St. Ann, a positive virtue education is implemented throughout the child's entire curriculum through the "Disciple of Christ - Education in Virtue" program. Since education is not a life lived later but a life now, our principal regularly uses colloquium conversations to shed light on what virtue is and how to live it. This week, Mr. Jedlovec showed how "affability" is an extension of our month's virtue of charity.

Saint Ann's motto, "Joy in the truth," is often found in the reading of true, good, and beautiful stories. Our mission is that our students will be exposed to the best that has been said and tell it back to their parents with delight.

"Children must have books, living books; the best are not too good for them." - Charlotte Mason

At St. Ann, upper elementary students participate in weekly discussions which seek to foster thoughtful and respectful dialogue on important questions. This week, students related our month's virtue, charity, to a question on what it means to be a true friend.

Our school invites students to put our vision into practice, which is to "think carefully, communicate effectively, love wholeheartedly, thrive virtuously, walk closely with Christ, and achieve excellence for the greater glory of God."
