September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer diagnosed in men, and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men.

It often has no early symptoms. However, because of effective screening options, the disease is often caught before it spreads, with good survival rates overall.

Prostate cancer is more common in men of African-American descent. African American men also continue to have the highest death rate for prostate cancer of any racial or ethnic group in the United States. Scientists believe the disparity stems from both genetic and socioeconomic factors.

The brethren of DB599 support the fight against prostate cancer. Please continue to drink plenty of water, maintain a healthy weight, and exercise. Like many other diseases, prostate cancer hates exercise!

We had the distinct honor of hosting the good brothers of Exodus #593 for an evening of fellowship, Masonic education, and a great meal. What a night!!

While we may meet in different lodges, we are united by the same tenets of brotherly love, relief, and truth. The exchange of ideas, experiences, and fraternal bonds continues to strengthen our Craft and reinforces the importance of visiting and supporting each other.

A Masonic collar is far more than ceremonial regalia.

It does not symbolize privilege.

It symbolizes responsibility.

Every jewel represents a duty.
Every office carries a burden.
Every collar reminds its wearer that leadership rests upon his shoulders.

The greatest honor is not wearing the collar—it is proving yourself worthy of it through integrity, humility, and faithful service.

This week’s Words of Leadership explores one of Freemasonry’s most meaningful emblems and reminds us that leadership does not end when the office does.

The collar may identify the office. Your character identifies the leader.

DB599 had the pleasure of visiting Star of Georgia #492 recently for an evening of brotherhood, fellowship, and Masonic education.

The event served as a reminder that while we may meet in different lodges, we are united by the same principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth. The exchange of ideas, experiences, and fraternal bonds continues to strengthen our Craft and reinforces the importance of visiting and supporting each other’s endeavors.

Many thanks to Worshipful Master Reginald Coleman and the good brothers of “The Ever Shining” Star of Georgia for the warm welcome and hospitality. We look forward to hosting you in the near future.
