"When Anna arrived in foster care, so much of her world had changed. New surroundings. New routines. New people. So many unknowns.

Not long after, she received a Bible from The CALL. A gift meant to remind her that she was deeply loved and never alone.

Her foster parent wanted to make it even more special. So, her foster parent visited the local Bible store, where they carefully printed Anna on the front.

Anna, was so excited to have her very own Bible with her name on it! Every evening before bed, she opens her Bible and reads. Its pages have become filled with bright highlights marking the verses that speak to her heart. Whenever she finds one she especially loves, she'll point to it with a smile and say, 'This one is about me.'

As she reads, she's beginning to understand something beautiful: that she is seen by God, known by Him, and loved beyond measure.

Her Bible has become more than a book. It has become a source of comfort, hope, and identity during a season of uncertainty.

At The CALL, we believe every child deserves to know they are loved. Not only by the families who care for them, but by a God who calls them His own. Sometimes that message begins with something as simple as a Bible placed in the hands of a child.

The gifts you make possible through The CALL do more than meet immediate needs. They help plant seeds of hope that can last a lifetime. One highlighted verse, one bedtime reading, and one precious child at a time."

Now that school is in full swing, weโ€™re reflecting back on the outpouring of support for our families during the busy back-to-school season.

Across Arkansas, churches and community partners held school supply drives, donated resources, prepped supplies for distribution, organized clothes for shopping, and volunteered their time to bless families with new school essentials and one last summer hurrah!

To everyone who showed up, gave generously, served faithfully, and helped make back-to-school a little lighter: ๐—ง๐—›๐—”๐—ก๐—ž ๐—ฌ๐—ข๐—จ! Together, you helped make this transition easier for children and families impacted by foster care!

Foster care is local missions.

Christians are called to care for the fatherless and vulnerable. Today, foster care is one of the ways the Church can live out that calling in a very real and tangible way.

But knowing ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ to step into foster care can feel overwhelming. Thatโ€™s where The CALL comes in.

We're here to equip local churches to support children and families impacted by foster care.

That can look different in every community. It might look like calling families to open their homes, rallying around foster families through Care Teams, creating spaces for prayer and encouragement, or supporting the mission through donations. The CALL walks alongside local churches, helping them engage in foster care ministry in ways that fit their people, resources, and community.

We know that stepping into foster care seems daunting. There are a lot of questions and "what if's" that can keep us from saying YES. But...what if you didn't need to see the full journey? What if you didn't need to know all the answers and address all the concerns?

When we read Scripture and see God calling His people to action, He often only gives them the first step. He calls them to obedience without revealing His bigger plan.

Is He calling you to take the first step? Is He calling you to trust Him without knowing how everything will turn out?

We know that He is faithful. We know His grace is sufficient.

Teenagers are growing in independence, but that doesnโ€™t mean theyโ€™re outgrowing their need for connection. Having a safe, supportive caregiver still matters deeply. Building a strong relationship doesnโ€™t always require a big conversation. Sometimes, it happens in the little moments, like saying yes to an expressed need or sharing a hobby.

Below are four simple ways to foster that connection! What other ways do you connect with the teens in your life? Add them in the comments!

๐Ÿ’™ ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐˜†๐—ฒ๐˜€. When itโ€™s safe and realistic, say yes when your teen asks for something. The more you say yes and meet their needs, the more they learn to trust and accept love.

Set aside at least 10 minutes each day to do something your teen enjoys, whether thatโ€™s playing video games, participating in sports, doing each otherโ€™s nails, or simply hanging out. Find ways to enjoy the time and make room for joy and laughter!

Invite your teen to teach you about the things they love. Ask them to share their favorite music, games, books, or interests with you.

Pay attention to their body language, tone, and energy. Mirroring their behavior in subtle ways can communicate acceptance and approachability.

What if a childโ€™s challenging behavior is actually a sign that they need to feel safe, known, and loved?

Many children in our communities have experienced trauma that can impact the way they connect with others. As churches welcome children into classrooms, youth groups, and ministries, church staff and volunteers have the opportunity to respond with empathy, patience, and consistency.

๐Ÿ’™ ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ž๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐˜€ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—•๐—ฒ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜€ is a trauma-informed training designed to equip churches with practical tools and insights to:

โœจ Prioritize connection over correction
โœจ Understand how trauma impacts children
โœจ Recognize when a child is feeling unsafe and experiencing dysregulation
โœจ Implement trauma-sensitive strategies to help these children thrive
โœจ Foster curiosity, compassion, and connection in your interactions with children

When churches are prepared to care well, they become powerful places of healing and hope. The CALL is here to help make that possible.

Back-to-school season brings new routines, busy evenings, and full calendars for every family. For foster families, those adjustments can also come with additional appointments, transitions, and the needs of children who may be navigating a season of change.

If you know a foster family in your community, a small act of support can make a big difference during this season. We've got a few ideas to get you started!

๐Ÿ Drop off a warm meal for dinner
๐Ÿผ Offer to babysit
๐Ÿš™ Run an errand or two around town
๐Ÿ“š Help with homework
๐Ÿ“ž Check in with foster parents

Every family's needs are different, and what feels like a small gesture to you may provide exactly the encouragement they need.

๐Ÿ’™ Foster and adoptive parents: What has been the most meaningful way someone has supported your family during the back-to-school season? Share your ideas in the commentsโ€”we'd love to learn from you!

As a new school year begins, many students are feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. But for many teens in foster care, this season also comes with uncertainty. Some don't know where they'll be living in the weeks ahead. Others wonder who will be in the stands at their games, attend parent-teacher conferences, celebrate their accomplishments, or help them navigate important milestones like getting a driver's license or applying for college.

Yet they often wait the longest for families and are among the most overlooked in foster care.

We believe every teen deserves to be seen. To be supported. To belong. And we believe the Church is uniquely equipped to help meet that need.

๐Ÿ’™ As this school year begins, ask yourself how you might step into a teen's story. Maybe that means becoming a foster parent or mentor for a teen in care. Maybe that means leading your small group to provide support to a local foster family. Maybe that means praying for more homes willing to open their doors to teens in need.
