If you find a litter of kittens outdoors, our first instinct may be to scoop them up and get them to safety. But sometimes, the safest place for a tiny kitten is right beside their mama! ๐ป
Young kittens should generally remain with their mother whenever she is present and caring for them. ๐
๐ช๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐๐๐๐ช๐จ๐ ๐ฎ๐ค๐ช ๐๐ค๐ฃ'๐ฉ ๐จ๐๐ ๐๐๐ง, ๐๐ค๐๐จ๐ฃ'๐ฉ ๐ข๐๐๐ฃ ๐จ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฃ'๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐๐๐ง๐. If the kittens are healthy, more than likely, mama cat is nearby! Mama provides warmth, nutrition, protection, and teaches them important skills they simply cannot learn on their own.
Around 6 weeks old, kittens are becoming more independent, eating solid food, and are at a much better age to be trapped, socialized, and brought into rescue when appropriate.
And don't forget mama! โค๏ธ The goal should be to trap the entire family and have mama spayed so this cycle doesn't happen again.
Sometimes helping means knowing when to intervene and when to let a mother cat do what she does best.
Give babies time to grow. Give mama the chance to raise them. And then make sure the whole family gets the help they need. ๐ฑ๐
