That hair tie and shoelace could be a $2000+ mistake!

Hair ties, plastic bag handles, shoelaces... remember, kitties are like furry toddlers. Theyre gonna put stuff in their mouth and not know how to get it out.

But they hide their pain better than human toddlers.

Which is why, like so many other things, we have to baby proof and catproof everything.

I often hear folks say "I can't help it, she wants to go outside!". Folks, we are bigger and stronger and maybe at least okay with critical thinking. Figure out a way to at least discourage them or slow them down. If your toddler wanted to go play in the street, you would do whatever it took to keep them from getting out that screen door. Try to do the same for the furry ones.

I have several that love hair ties and other dangerous items. They are allowed to play with them only while supervised. If I can't supervise, they are not a safe toy. I am the one responsible for their safety.

(There is a cat toy with similar to hair ties on it that may be safe for some pets, but again, you have to know your pet and if they are a chewer, gnawer, or eater and err on the side of caution!)

Still appointments available, including afternoon appointments!! $10 gets a spay/neuter, eartip, FVRCP and Rabies protection!

We are getting lots of requests for TNR help...it is the season after all! Unfortunately, there are just not enough resources on our side to help you all but we can get you pointed in the right direction!

If you have community cats that need fixed, you need appointments first! This TNR event hosted by SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center is a golden opportunity. Make your appointment NOW as they will fill quickly. Next, obtain a humane trap (or traps.) For the safety of the cat, you and the vet team, the cat must go to the clinic in a humane trap. Trap a day or two before the appointment and care for the cat in trap. We leave the cats in traps for the TNR cycle and we replace towels/pee pads in the trap, with the cat in it, and feed the cat wet food, and will sometimes add water to the food. Hydration is important. The cat should remain in the trap to recover and can usually be returned to the trapping location the day after surgery.

A successful TNR morning at our first large colony trapping. 5 cats ready to go for Wednesday morning. A cat bite for Angela, but that's not unexpected and a risk I take knowingly when needing to check something on a cat of unknown temperament. And poison ivy exposure meant a hose cold shower to pre wash off that.

All in the name of cats!

Unfortunately there are already 3 more litters born this week in the same location so this will be an ongoing project for sure. Do not wait for TNR to come help you. The population will keep exploding. Let us guide you, and you can do it.

Stop the suffering now, not 3 months from now.

So newborn kittens don't have to try to survive living in the stump of a tree.

Like these guys are.

Yes, they're adorable. But they deserve to not have to fight for their lives from day one. There are not enough fosters to save every litter, let alone allow more to be made.

As Batta Cats says, there is a LOT of TNR requests coming in, and while we try to help, if you can do it, you should! We can help guide you, teach you, and give you resources to succeed, if you are willing to help!

Appointments are the first thing you have to have. They don't often come around quickly, so there not being a waitlist on this means Make your appointment NOW as they will fill VERY quickly. Like, I wouldn't be shocked if they're gone by morning.

Next, obtain a humane trap (or traps.) For the safety of the cat, you and the vet team, the cat must go to the clinic in a humane trap. Trap a day or two before the appointment and care for the cat in trap. We can help you make sure this is done safely.
The cat should remain in the trap to recover and can usually be returned to the trapping location the day after surgery.

Trust us, you can absolutely do this. Make a difference, and be the change you want to see in this world. Do it now, before that cat has a "surprise" litter on your back patio.
