Kettering College physician assistant students got a break from their intensive studies on Saturday, October 25 and contributed their painting skills and muscle power to a service-learning project sponsored by EDNDC. They were joined by Joannie Haverstick and Tim Scanlon and their spouses, along with several other community volunteers.

The volunteers cleaned, painted, and hauled hundreds of pounds of dilapidated fixtures and junk from two 140 year-old homes that are currently under renovation and will be sold to low-income families.

There is an extreme shortage of decent and affordable homeownership opportunities in Montgomery County. EDNDC's mission is to expand affordable housing opportunities in East Dayton to help low-income families become stable and healthy.

We are very grateful to Mrs. Haverstick and all the great folks in the KC PA program!

-Jan Lepore-Jentleson, Executive Director, EDNDC

43 George St. is getting a complete renovation inside and out thanks to EDNDC! We are painting the exterior a cheery yellow and will soon be remodeling the entire indoors with new plumbing, electric, windows, and an added upstairs bathroom. Built in 1878, the home retains many special touches that were a hallmark of home construction of the period. Updates to come!

We will be dedicating the beautiful new Ruskin Commons on November 12! We can’t wait for our community to begin enjoying this space, and for Ruskin Elementary students to have a new ‘front door’ to their school.
